I can message ringtones to my phone and play them, but how do I save it as a selectable ringtone to the phone?

how do I message tones to my cu500. What software do I need for ring tones and do I need a cable for this phone and if so where do I get one?

You must also sublscribe to the mms service.

Send a message with the ringtone attached to yourcellphonenumberwithareacode@mms.mycingular.com

acutally you have to do it using bitpim kind of a pain in the a@@ but it works, search the lg forum its there

Actually you don't. I have been emailing ringtones via xxx-xxx-xxx@mms.mycingular.com for the past 2 weeks since I got my phone.

so instead of the annoying built in ones you get custom ones without the hack? just by sendingyourself a music clip

I'll also confirm that this works. I've sent several MP3 to the phone both via MMS and via bluetooth transfer. No problems using as a ringtone at all.

Shirsh is correct. No trouble using mms to get ringtones. However, I do use QPST and the LG modem drivers with a standard LG cable from Cingular to change out the Message Tones. Search the forums for a post called " Modding-A-Start". That's what clued me into what was needed to change the Message Tones. Also, using the cable and phone as a jump drive saved lots of time.
