I have recently aquired the P800. I realy like this phone a lot however my problem resides in sending emails.
I am able to recieve but cannot send. I have used both my AT&T and T-mobile with the same outcome. I tried calling both to get the outgoing server address with no help what so ever.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Are you referring to an ISP POP3/IMAP email account? If so, does your ISP POP3/IMAP account provider allow for messages to be sent while not connected to their network? Some service providers will limit the use of SMTP while disconnected from their networks. They will either give you an alternate SMTP or simply will not allow for outgoing messages when disconnected from their network. Contact your service provider for further details.

I could never get my P800 to send actual email thru my ISP, pacbell.net. Southern california) Try this for your outgoing server: Get to the "Outbox" tab in email setup. Under Outgoing Server Address use: "myemail.t-mobile.com" (no quotes) DO NOT check the "Use SMTP Authentication" box.
When people send email directly to my device (phone number@tmomail.net) it is converted by T-Mobile to an SMS and received by me as such, immediately. In the header of the message, appears the senders "sent from" email address (as an underlined link), which I simply tap on to send a reply (it launches a return email template with the senders email address already filled in) Simply insert your Subject and message and hit the SEND button. You can't use the "reply" button when you receive the SMS because it will try to reply through the SMS system and will fail. This works flawlessly for me. You're actually using a combination of SMS and true email to "Two-Way" communicate in real time. None of your "Inbox" tab settings have any effect on receiving this "email" because you're actually receiving an SMS. Under the "Basic" tab (editing your email account) you'll want to use whatever email address (in the "Email address" field you want displayed to receivers of your email so they can reply back to that address. It is not a setting to make the device actually work, it is an optional setting for your convienience. A great bonus of using this system is that you don't have to periodically "poll" your email system to check for emails because the SMS is PUSHED to you immediately upon receival. Hope this helps!

Thanks BVH for the tip. Unfortunately I didn't mention that I use AT&T most of the time and they have no sttings like that at all. However I did find a solution last night on how to send true emails. Since I have Earthlink I simply used their SMTP server address that applies to someone that is not on their network. You do however have to check the SMTP Authentication box and insert your full email name and password for your account.
Now I am able to send emails out consistantly.
