8525 and POP3 leaving messages on server and not

When I first configured my 8525, I was concerned about it deleting email from my mailbox once it hit the POP3 server. Surprisingly, the 8525 behaved like my V551 when configured to do so: it pulled the email from the server and left it there and then only d/l'ed new messages the next time around, even though I didn't see any way to set this flag.

But yesterday, after having the phone for several days, all of the email from my inbox on the POP3 server re-appeared in the 8525's inbox as new email, and the phone erased it all from the server (leaving me no backup! arg).

I've probably fiddled with every setting on the phone over the last week, so it's hard to tell what bit I've flipped, but I don't remember seeing anything like "leave email on server" in the email configuration. Anyone know where this is and how I can set it back? Thanks!

Mobile Outlook has no setting whether you want to leave a copy of the email or not. By default the email is left on the server and only deleted when you perform a delete and send /receive on the 8525.

As far as emails appearing as new from old email that you have read is a mystery. It should not have done that. At least it never has happened to me.
