Need help with 8525 Email

I'm new to the forums but I followed them during the pre-release of the 8525. Now after purchasing an 8525, I've tried to set up my POP account both manually and letting Windows Mobile get the settings. I can sign on to my account and receive emails but when I try to send from my phone, I get the error message: "Messages cannot be downloaded to your device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct." First what is confusing is that I can apparently download messages from my account (just can't send them) as the sent messages stay in my Out Box. The only account setting I wasn't sure about was the request for a domain name. When I called Comcast, they said use comcast.net. BTW, I'm trying to do this strictly through WiFi. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

sounds like your outgoing server might be incorrectly set. Do you have it set to:

smtp.comcast.net

?

You also have to check the box that asks if your outgoing server requires authentication.

I had this problem with my gmail account.

I just went into the setup for the pop3 and checked the option for outgoing authentication.

works great now !

Thanks for the reply guys, I do have smtp set as stated and also have the authentication checked. Having the wireless option of checking email was one of the major reasons for purchasing this phone.

You do have proxy turned off? I send/recieve comcast.net emails fine.

I just went through the settings again and can't find where to turn proxy off (or on).

I'm not an email techie but I've had this problem before starting with my Treo 650 and had to call Cingular support to get it to work.

If you are using a POP account, the outgoing server on your setup should be "cwmx.com".

If you are using IMAP, then it should be smtp....

That's how I currently have my email's configured on my 8525. IMAP for work, POP for personal email. They both work, incoming and outgoing.

The domain name is blank on all my setups.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your help guys. I finally figured it out tonight. After reading the "how to" on Cingular, I deleted the accounts I set up originally. Then I turned off my wifi connection as recommended by Cingular "how to", re-entered my original server information, turned back on wifi and I was able to receive AND SEND email . I know that sounds crazy, but trying to set up the mail account with the wifi turned on was the problem.
