I've been trying to search around for this, and here is what I concluded:

1. I have to go to wotanserver.com and purchase an account for about 9
dollars.

2. Download their program and it will do its thing.

Now I have a few questions:

Do I need to use the cable or could this be done wirelessly?
Is the dcu-60 cable the one that comes with the phone or do I need to purchase another one?
There seem to be a lot of different firwares for every phone, which one should I get if I don't care about installing different languages? Whichever is the latest one?
What exactly is the purpose of debranding? Enabling me to use mp3s as ringtones and getting rid of rogers stuff from the phone?

to debrand/unbrand you can use the standard data cable that came with your phone. as for the different firmwares I just selected what was out for my region

is there any way to do this free or is buying those credits the only option?

hey, when you debrand using wotan, do you have to take out the memory card and sim card before you start the process? and also, do you leave the phone on or turn it off?

from what I read, you need to take out both the memory and the sim cards. not sure about turning it off though, but i imagine it would need to be turned on..

this is common for both wotan/davinci
with phone turned off, take SIM and memory card out (to prevent phone turned on by accident)
make sure the battery is fully charged to prevent battery runs out during flashing
with flashing driver installed (wotan and davinci use same driver), press and hold C when plugging USB cable till you hear "plugged"

From hybrid

It's simple. You can just buy a credit from Wotan Server (WotanServer.com) it's like 7EUR, pay with PayPal, recieve credit. Download USB drivers, download program, take out M2 card and SIM and battery, put battery back in. Hold C while phone is off and plug USB cable in, and then choose your CDA and then it will flash.

Well the wotan program worked today so I just completed my debranding. I went with the Russia2 firmware and now it's like the phone has never been used! I lost some custom wallpapers I had made for it but I hope I have backups on my computer at home.

All in all, everything seemed to go fine and my phone now supports Russian language lol.. and there is now a small letter "E" above the reception bar.. what does it mean?

The "E" probably means that you're receiving EDGE coverage in your area. as that's what it indicates on my w810i. congrats on the successful debranding

ahh makes sense. and thanks! i was a bit scared to do this thing as the phone is an expensive toy to screw up, but now I'm happy. to be honest I don't know the full extent of the bonuses of debranding, but just having a phone that's not really associated with a certain company and being able to use mp3s as ringtones is reason enough for me!

it's kinda cool that my phone also now supports the only two languages that i actually can speak heh

debranding from what I've read on HoFo is it allows you to remove the service provider's branding for one and also allows you to set mp3 ringtones as well.

Posted by: ES_o2

is it just me or is it taking forever for the client to connect to the server?
if this is just me, then maybe their server is down again?

edit: got it to work after 5 minutes, now transferring via bt, mp3s for ringtones!

I guess debranding is basically removing all the customization your provider has changed and replacing it with the default settings from which it comes out in factory.
