Verizon krzr k1m ringtone/wallpaper/sync music/outlook tutorial

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: bj02454

I've had a lot of trouble due to lack of tutorials, so I thought I'd document what I've been able to do so far:

First, install MPT (Motorola phone tools, you can find it on bit torrent or buy it - the bit torrent version has an update folder in it, so install, update, then do the online live update to v4.36). This will install drivers for the phone for you. MPT will let you sync outlook, but had problems for me (put all my calendar stuff on Jan 6/7 for some reason).

To sync music, you need the Motorola sync fix tool:
http://support.vzw.com/pdf/Sync_Music_Fix.exe
Plug in your handset via USB (you need a USB to Mini-USB type A cable), run this, then power off your phone and unplug it. Power on and plug it back in, and you can now open WMP10 (windows media player 10) to sync music (put your phone in sync mode, it’s under music and tones).

To use p2k to upload ringtones and wallpapers and screensavers (I couldn't get bitpim to work), first install MSU (Motorola software update) from https://rsd.motorola.com/download/M...ware_Update.exe
Open it after install, plug in your phone (but don't put it in music sync mode) and wait for your ESN number to show up. Then, open p2k (download from http://s5vi.vxxxstuff.com/commander...nder-V3.3.0.zip) and go to a/Motorola/shared/ringtones to transfer ringtones. For me, right clicking on files on my comp and clicking "copy" moved them to the phone; the p2k move button was disabled for whatever reason. Wallpapers go in a/Motorola/shared/wallpapers. You shouldn't have to delete the mytones.db database like some tutorials suggest (I didn't). Some have reported problems with using vibrate and mp3 ringers (they suggest turning off vibrate), but vibe and ring works fine for me. If anyone can figure out how to seem edit to add a "vibe then ring" option, I’d really appreciate it (though it's easy enough to make an mp3 with 2 seconds of silence in front).
Note that you can only use midi files for personalized ringers for contacts for some reason, but mp3's work fine as your general ringer. Also, mp3's won't work as alarms. You can also browse around your phone and change images, such as the outside led image for when the phone is open, the startup movie and the shutdown movie.
To turn off the "Verizon wireless" text in/out of the phone, you don't have to seem edit, just go to menu/settings/display/banner/eri/off.

If anyone can get Bluetooth file sync with a computer to work, let me know. I’d also love to figure out how to use mp3's as personalized ringers, or how to use the phone as a modem for free/get free WAP. I’m trying to figure out how to put higher resolution icons on the phone (for shortcut keys in icon mode, alarm/calendar are 15x15 gifs, and I’m too scared to replace them with higher resolution ones via p2k), or how to put a link to the music program as a shortcut (you can link to my music, but it isn’t the same). Finally, it should be possible to upload brew games to the phone and play them by going into setup and setting get it now to test mode. Does anyone have a good site for full games? PM me if you have advice (I've seen old threads with bejeweled etc but can't find a download )
Good luck everyone!

Correction: After uploading your mp3's to the phone, you must delete the file a/mytones.db, then turn your phone off then back on. You can then use mp3's as alarms, or as personalized ringers.

Posted by: bj02454

Correction: Vibrate can be turned on with mp3 ringers successfully, but if you want to use personalized ringers you have to turn off vibrate. Can anyone come up with a seem edit to fix this (or some other way to fix this)?
Also, I saw Macromedia's page on brew - has anyone tried building a game for their k1m with it?
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/

Finally, has anyone tried the LG8300 hack on a k1m (buying a 1 month subscription to vznavigator or any game, backing the software up with p2k, then deleting the game and prefs, restarting the phone and putting them back on gives free unlimited use)? A tutorial is here:
http://www.northtexasfishing.com/8300.htm
If anyone has a 1 month subscription to a program and wants to try this out, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Posted by: bj02454

Update: MP3 songs seem to have a character limit when uploading with p2k - "Guns n Roses - Knockin on Heaven's Door.mp3" wouldn't transfer, but "Guns n Roses - Knockin on Heaven's D.mp3" was fine.

I finally got free wap to work, using settings that wouldn't work before. Not sure how it happened. Anyway:
Type #073887* (#0setup*) and enter 000000 as the code. Click (push center) on the first option (web sessions) and make a new session. Scroll down to the IP and type 064.233.167.099, hit ok, then scroll to the first port setting and change it to 80 (leave the other two as is). Now, save this (hit ok) and open the session by clicking on it. You will (hopefully, if you're lucky) go to Google search. Gmail and personalized home don't work, sadly, and I can't figure out how to enter a URL, but you can search for any page you want on Google and go to it; news works fine. Enjoy!

Posted by: bj02454

It is possible to change the openwave splash screen. The brw_openwave_splash file in the root directory of the phone is just a renamed .gif file, and can be edited and then put back on the phone.

I own a mac that has bluetooth and was able to upload all of my mp3s to the memory card and by simply uploading mp3's to the /audio folder on the phone itself you can use a regular mp3 as a ringtone. It doesnt get any simpler than that. No cables needed, no drivers, ect ect. "Plug" and play.

Posted by: bj02454

I've seen some mac tutorials - it appears that macs are able to do more over BT with verizon phones than PCs - I suppose verizon may have not paid enough attention to macs. Using my PC, the only bluetooth profile I've been able to find has been DUN (dial up networking).

Posted by: MrHat102

I had to delete the Mytone.db file also. Thank you for the tip.
Could not get P2k, v3.3.0 to work with this phone. But P2K V2.8 work but will not upload every ringtone complete.

Posted by: MarkOrmesher

Just FYI, you have to delete Mytonesdb.db every time you upload a new ringtone, otherwise the phone will load it, but it won't play as a custom ringer.

I just bought the motorola krzr k1m and have no idea how to assign my mp3 as a ringtone. Can someone give me a step by step procedure?

Read some of the earlier post on this thread, theyre doing a great job at telling you what to do, before i flashed my phone with the alltel monster, what i did with my verizon krzr was, first download motorola update software, motorola phone tools (google it or buy it - might not really needed, but might as well have it, key words- GOOGLE and ****in FREE) and motorola drivers, you also need to download P2kCommander-V3.2.6, this worked GREAT for me. <= these are all you need to start or do what you want as of now with ringtones.

if you want to go into seem editing, which im assuming youre new to (im actually pretty new to it as well but i have gone ahead and ****ed around with it already) then you should get something like p2kseem. You can also get QPST and PST 7.23 which you can find on howard forums thru links or google, for more advanced stuff. ehh its pretty ****ing worthless unless you know what youre doin, which i dont.

back to ringtones, you first install all the drivers and your phone on your pc, it should show up as a modem in your device manager when connected.
1. run motorola software update, THEN connect your phone to your pc thru usb
2. run p2k commander, on the left side or right side on the top where it has the drives, click on the p2k mobile phone, it should read something like 380+ files off your phone
3. then depending on which side you choose, lets say left side, you should see just 1 file there (named - a), click on it and more should appear.
4. scroll down and delete the MyTonedb.db
5. Now scrolle up and go to motorola>shared>ringtone
6. now on the other side of p2k navigate yourself to the mp3 (or whatever) that you want to use and click on it, then click on "copy" after the bar on the bottom right side goes all the way thru and there are no error messages on the bottom left side, everything shoudl be a go. add more files till the inevitable stall. then just simply either redo the process or just close p2k and restart it and hope it connects (this sometimes works for me) and then contine adding files (always delete the files that failed to finish, while they are added to the phone, chances are they are corrupt or wont work properly)
7. in case you want to add pics, then just simply go to motorola>shared>pictures
8. remember if there are any pics or ringtones that are already on your phone, you can always delete them now, even tho they are supposedly protected on your phone, and as a note all files you add to your phone this way CANT be deleted unless you use p2k to delete them as the phone thinks they are natural files or so.
9. after you are finished adding the files of pr0n you will inevitably put on your phone, close p2k or just disconnect your phone.
10. restart your phone.
11. all pics and ringtones should be present as well as the massive amount of pr0n that will bring your phone to a halt, think about it, you can only view so much on such a tiny screen, you can only make out so much *****, *** ****ing and **** suckin on it, personally i would wait till the nokia n95 for this sort of madness, and now you should be able to add them to your contacts, sicko.
12. NOTE: if you have vibrate and ring on, only the default ringtone will work, no personalized ringtones, yes, verizon is gay, hence me flashing my phone, that and i HATE the ****in red and black bars. those mother****ing sons fo ****in *****es

all ive said here has been said before by numerious people and all credit goes to them. hopefully this was a little bit clearer, then again im ****in drunk and its 630 ****inam, so ehh. good luck.

thanks for that! gonna try it, plus it actually helps to have a guide like this instead of flipping through millions of threads and pages

your welcome but it would be better without the cursing, in theory that is, then again, in theory, communism works.

quick question. i have downloaded Motorola phone tools and it updated the version, but to 4.04, not to the latest 4.36 i think. so it still doesn't detect my kr1 when i plug it in, and hence can't run the motorola software update. something im doing wrong?

Posted by: Rocketo

i tried the instructions and it keeps saying volume name fail when i try to use p2k commander and select the p2k mobilbe phone from the drop down

it's also saying USB IO time out and then says 0 files found help...

anyone ? thanks

This guy Mark Venture has a whole site up and running on all the great stuff hes done - if you read thru it you can pretty much get anything done. While most of the stuff is for other phones, just use the ringtone and pictures part.

http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_MPT_Cable.htm <- you dont need to do any seem edits to start
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/DriverConfusion.htm

the way i did it, install drivers then windows installed my phone for me then
you run motorola update software first, then you connect your phone with the usb cord then you run p2k and load p2k mobile

sorry ive been busy and i actually have to go right now, ill be back in a few hours and then ill write some more. Mark actually has everything you need to know on his site and you cant go wrong with it.

just got it to recognize with the help of this thread.

question: install all the drivers it says 2 posts back? what are all the drivers? having a terribly hard time having my phone be recognized via usb. thanks!

Posted by: mike13dog

I'm having the same problem as rocketo posted on 12-26, help

Posted by: bj02454

drivers will install automatically - try plugging and unplugging a few times to get it to happen. mpt has some sort of update problem, so unplug your internet before running it so that it can't check for updates.

try following these instructions on how to set up P2K Commander, i had the same problem until i adjusted the options as per those instructions, HTH

Posted by: mike13dog

It works!!! You don't know how happy this makes me. Thank you so, so much.

Posted by: mx16m

none of this will work for me. maybe its because i have the k1 and not the k1m, whats the difference between the 2 anyway?

EDIT - i know this might be asking alot, but i have tried everything and have looked through about every phone forum i can find, but nothing will work, so does anyone think they can talk to me on AIM and help me out, because i really want to get a few things straightened out with my phone but it seems impossible. i have no expereince with seem editing at all, so i dont really understand half the things you guys are talking about and i just really dont know what to do. thanks

Posted by: mx16m

oh yeah, i forgot, my s/n is mx16m - i have AIM. so if im ever on (or ven if i have my away message up) please IM me if you have the time. i would like to be able to: use my own ringtones, change the wallpaper on the front screen, learn how to seem edit, and learn how to put games on there. thanks in advance.
ps: one person obviously doesnt have to do all of that, and it most likely wont take one day, i am just asking a favor, thanks.

Posted by: man29

I have been frustrated by this phone for the last couple of days and after a couple of finally got it to work. All I did was install the Motorola EU Driver from one of the other threads and used P2K Command 3.3.0. I had to restart after the driver installation for my PC to detect and install the phone properly. But then after I disconnected it and plugged it back, it gave me the timeout message again. Which is still frustrating me.

Posted by: Justintoxicated

After you get the drivers working, launch MSU then P2Commander 3.2.6. use the browser on the right hand side for the phone and make sure options are set according to mark's site.

I had problems with other versions....

*I set the speed to normal not slow...

Great thread, thanks for the info. Did anyone ever figure out how to get the VZ Navagation for free?

Posted by: opmek94

i need some help. while using p2k commander, i was able to get an mp3 that i wanted to use as a ringtone into my ringtones folder in my krzr k1m (i have verizon) WITHOUT deleting the mytones.db folder. i was also able to set it as a ringtone, but when i call my phone to test it out the song doesnt play. however, i can preview it just like all my other stock ringtones and it will play. just when i call my phone it wont play. i can hear a little bit of a hissing sound like something is supposed to be playing but there is just no sound from the mp3 i chose for the ringtone. can anyone tell me why this is? thanks in advance!

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!!

Hey Opmek94 I was having the exact same problem as you...so I starting searching some more on the internet and finally got something to work. YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO DOWNLOAD ALL THOSE PROGRAMS! YAY! All you have to do is email the song to yourself...simple as it sounds that is it. The only catch is it has to be 20 seconds OR LESS. When you get it in you inbox go to options and then click save sound. Then it will show as a ringtone. you phone email in (youcellnumber)@vzwpix.com

If I sound kinda giddy...I am...I've been trying to do this forever! Anyway Good luck Girl (or guy lol!)!!!

Well ive tried that same thing too and all it does is save the sound in the "my sounds" folder and there is no option to set it as a ringtone. ive seen this on the internet too and it works for some people but it doesnt for others. its wierd though cause it only works for some people even though they have the same carrier. i dont know. ill try it again i guess and see if it works. thanks though.

oh and im a guy haha.

HOLY CRAP IT WORKED!! thanks a bunch!!

so i've had some stuff work and some stuff not work. hoping I can get some help here.

i have a mac, so I can't use p2k commander. here's what i've tried so far:

1a. browse the phone and drop an mp3 ringtone into the sounds folder
1b. browse and drop into ringtones folder
1c. browse and drop into mixedmedia folder

none of those worked (I'm assuming it's because i need to delete the db file, but I'm not sure how I can do that with a mac).

2. email to myself at my vzwpix.com address. just for kicks, i attached two files, one was an mp3 and one was a midi file that I had before. i was able to save the mp3 file and i was able to save the midi file, but only the mp3 file showed up in the ringtones, while the midi file just showed up in the sounds folder.

I guess my two questions are:

1. is there any way to get the ringtones to the phone (and usable as ringtones) using a mac (without emailing it)
2. is there way to save the midi file as a ringtone once you've emailed it to yourself

Thanks!

Try Using Myxertones.com. You Can Make Your Own Ringtones That Are Compatible With Your Phone And Wallpaper Also. They Some Ringtoones And Wallpaper For Free, Just Uses Standard Text, Pic Message Rates. Been Using It For A Week And It Works Great For Me.

Posted by: Analysis987

You can also just convert the Midi file to an Mp3, download.com has a lot of good FREE programs that can be used to do this

Posted by: masona5

I have a k1m and a mac with bluetooth, sending mp3s could not be easier but I cannot delete this one song. I had it as a ringtone and it got really annoying and now I can't delete it from my internal memory (don't have a memory card.)

Anyone have any advice? I can delete other songs just not this one.

Posted by: wnsrncjswo

the free wap stuff, u think it'll work for Telus KRZR Km1?
cuz i got my security code which is not 6 zeros, and if i click "web session"
it asks me to press some kind of subsidy code which is not 6 zeros, either.
I've not been able to get the subsidy code.

Posted by: ONL63

I've followed all the directions for putting ringtones on my phone, and it works great. Only problem is, now I can't use the stereo headphones for listening to my music thru the built-in mp3 player. I must have done something when I did the hex seem. That's the only thing I can think of that might have went wrong. Does anybody know how I can get it back? It would be nice to use the headphones every now and then. Plus the sound is so much nicer than the external speaker.

Posted by: Notech

I followed this guide, http://aznuwee.googlepages.com/, and it worked out great. I not only put in MP3 files I also put in midi tones.

I'm having this problem too, but I think I know the cause. It has to be because MSU freezes when I plug in my phone. It says to allow 25-30 minutes for the software to update, but my phone information isn't even showing up on the left. It just freezes immediately when I plug in the phone. Is this supposed to happen? Should I just let it sit?

I know MSU has to be running for P2KCommander to work...

Posted by: opmek94

ok...i just exchanged my krazr k1m for a new one, because the other one had some problems. with my other krazr, i did the whole emailing the song to myself and it worked. i tried doing the same thing with my new krazr and it wont work now. i can still open the attatchment and it will play, but the sound quality is horrible and it wont save to my ringtones...just to my sounds folder. it doesnt even play with mp3 quality, and it is an mp3. its just really muddy and crappy. with my other krazr, it did play with mp3 quality after opening the attatchment and it saved to my ringtones folder. does anyone know what the problem is? did verizon start to catch on to this and mess with the phones more to screw us over??? so frustrating!!

Posted by: JPSwartz1

I agree with a post above, followed this website http://aznuwee.googlepages.com and it worked like a charm. Thanks Notech!

Posted by: opmek94

see i was about to follow those steps with my first krazr, but i got nervous about deleting the "my tones.db" file because it voids the warranty. however, verizon has to prove that the phone has been hacked, but i didnt want to run that chance in case i needed to get my phone serviced, which i already had to get it switched out once and is now the phone that is giving me trouble with this whole thing right now. anyway, i got it to work without deleting the "mytones.db" folder on my other krazr and im just frustrated that i cant get it to work while following the same procedure of emailing the song to my phone. does the phone menu change at all after deleting the "mytones.db" folder? would it be obvious to verizon that i hacked my phone by doing this? is it really that big of a deal, or will i be fine if i delete it?

i really appreciate peoples' thoughts and comments!!

Posted by: JPSwartz1

i cant tell a difference since, no changes to the menu or anything after deleting the "mytones.db." The only thing i could think verizon would see is if you deleted some of the standard ringtones to free up space when you hack the phone. Good luck!

Posted by: SDiablo512

After using P2k to upload pictures. The phone does not recognize the files as valid picture type. Does anyone know if you need to change something or even delete a .db after uploading pictures to get them to show on the K1m?

Posted by: Tech2323

yeah, Im having trouble with the pics. its saying its corrupt..

Posted by: shoveys

Could someone pleeease post the original verizon k1m start up and shut down animation and sound files. I accidentally deleted them from my computer.

Posted by: opmek94

i want to put some music on the mp3 player on my krazr k1m, but i dont want to pay $30 for the software from verizon. does anyone know a way to do it using p2k? ive tried to do it, but i cant figure it out. thanks in advance.

you can download the VZ Music Essentials software free from their website.

has anyone verified that the krzr k1m instructions work on the slvr l7c? cheers!

did you get your question answered? if not, i can give you directions on p2kcommander. i just figured it out yesterday and am loving it.

Posted by: opmek94

yes i did get it answered...thank you! i was told to download the music essentials manager off of verizons website (its free), which i did, but i havent tested it out yet. however, if you dont mind, i would still appreciate getting the directions using p2k from you just in case the other way doesnt work. its always good to have a back up haha. thanks in advance!

by the way, i noticed you have a slvr. how are you liking it? i kinda wish i had one now instead of my krzr, but i still like my krzr though.

Posted by: hgroomz

for the p2k commander, this site was a life saver. if you get stuck at all, just ask any specific questions and i'd be more than willing to help. i know what it feels like to be frustrated and stuck...it sucks.

i just got my slvr a couple weeks ago and i love it. originally i really wanted to the rizr, which would have meant t-mobile, but everyone i talk to is verizon, so they made more sense. the main reason i went with it is b/c i was sick of the flip and wanted something that was different. i almost went with either the krzr or the lg 8600. if you're still in your first month, you can bring your phone in and get a different one for free (on verizon). anyway, gl on the hack. cheers!

Posted by: wresqu

Thanks for the thread, I can't seem to find my music files on the screen after getting P2K running. My files seem to be a WMA file...where would they show as MP3? Your directions are clear, just having problem locating what music I want to copy.

I know how you can do this..as long as you have a good data cable. I have the fix site from Verizon. Run the following and you should have no problems... Let me know if it worked for you.

I really like "Wavepad". It's totally free, and you can convert music files to nearly any format. Very easy to use. I've made nearly all my MP3 ringtones using it. Just Google "Wavepad" to find a link for the download.

Posted by: opmek94

cool thanks a lot! ill check it out.

audacity, available here , is one of the best free audio editors out there imho.

wresqu, do you still need help with finding your mp3 files?

I'm trying to get this working with my Verizon Moto SLVR L7c. I have all of the software, and the drivers are installed and the phone is recognized by my computer, but I can't get MSU working. I run the program, plug in the phone, and nothing happens. Because of this, I cannot connect to my phone in P2K. Anybody know why MSU just sits there when I plug in my phone?

Posted by: hgroomz

you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling MSU. i ran into this problem and i think that's how i fixed it. i'm not sure if there's a specific version of MSU you need. can anyone else spread some light on this?

I just reformated my computer, so I was forced to reinstall MSU and still ran into this problem.

Upon going to Motorola's website to download MSU from them, I'm prompted to select my carrier and phone model. The Verizon option only has a selection for the Moto Q available. Does this mean there's a specific version of MSU I need for my SLVR L7c?

I also came accorss a direct link to download MSU in another thread on these forums, and that version didn't work either...

Posted by: sid369

I would really like to get a Nokia since you can customize the ringtones and wallpapers , however I would have to switch to either att or t mobil which I don't want to do, but I am glad I found this thread and I kinda like the moto slvr since I am not a fan of flip phones. So mu question is that what I have read from this thread is that I can have my own mp3 as ringtones on the moto slvr, so can I use it with my macbook or I have to have a PC to download the software and stuff for the moto. is there a way to also install your own wallpapers?

Thanks

Hmmm...i just got excited at the prospect of using P2k to add my own ringtones, but what the hell is up with not being able to have vibrate on with a personalized contact? THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME!! I managed (out of about 40 emails) to email myself an mp3, it saved in my ringtones, and i set it as the tone for my work line, then called it and it rang with the DEFAULT ringer because I have vibrate on.

Can anyone offer up a reason WHY this happens? I'm annoyed enough with Verizon for killing the capabilities of emailing mp3's to your phone (don't know how that one came through), but THIS is just more annoying. It's one of those small features I prefer since I always have my phone in my pocket. I don't always hear it OR feel it which is why I have BOTH vibrate and ring. So annoying. Anyone know why this happens? Is it just this phone? Thanks!

Okay, I tried this stuff out, and while it worked the first time (using the method at http://aznuwee.googlepages.com/), now I seem to be perpetually locked out of my phone. The method just doesnt work anymore.

Motorola phone tools still recognizes my phone, but every time I try to use the updater, it hangs at the 'please connect' screen, and never realizes that my phone is even attached. It doesnt freeze or anything, it just...waits.

I've tried using other programs to get back into my cellphone, and none of them have worked. They seem to have the same selective ignorance of the cell phone as the software updater program, even when I point them to the exact port its plugged in to.

I heard that i may need to uninstall/reinstall drivers for this to work, but im somewhat lost with the whole conundrum to begin with. Is anyone able to help me out with this?

Plug in your handset via USB (you need a USB to Mini-USB type A cable), run this, then power off your phone and unplug it. Power on and plug it back in, and you can now open WMP10 (windows media player 10) to sync music (put your phone in sync mode, it’s under music and tones).

I have tried this several times and failed. I even tried deleting the MyTonesDB.db file and rebooting like adding ringtones, but that didn't fix the problem.

Can anyone point out the mistake I may be making?

With the Sync Fix Tool, the program just opens, says "Removing Devices" and then says "Done" and closes. Is this that the program is supposed to do?

This may seem like a very simple question, but how exactly do I view the song file on my phone? Is is 'Get It Now > Music & Tones > My Music' or can I view it in 'Settings & Tools > Memory > Phone Memory > My Music'?

Thanks in advance.

Anytime I try to open up P2kcommander.exe I get an error. When I use autostart, it says my phone isn't connected. I have MPT installed and MSU.

Just FYI, before I flashed my VZW K1m to the generic Moto F/W, I was hacking the "eff" out of the VZW F/W, and I noticed that if you hook up your K1m to your computer and run Motorola Software Update, it should update your F/W. Upon doing so, this fixed the bug for the personalized ringtones with vibrate on (for me, anyway.) If anybody else tries this and it works for them, please confirm.

Oh, and also, deleting the MyToneDb.db file will have no ill effects on your phone, as the file is automatically recreated when you power cycle/restart your phone. This file is a database file that stores your personalized ringtone information, so after you delete it and restart your phone, it will randomly assign ringtones from your ringtone folder to your contacts, but only to the ones that already had ringtones assigned to them. If you don't delete this file, though, your ringtone database will not update, but your sounds folder will, so your ringtone will show up in your sound folder, but will not be able to be used as a ringtone. So go ahead and delete that bad boy right off the bat, add ringtones to your little heart's content, restart the phone, and reassign all of your ringtones, and voila!!!

EDIT: Might want to go ahead and delete the TmpTneDb.db while you're at it. I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but it couldn't hurt.
