sidekick data plan includes unlimited texting. instant messenging and internet access. if I were to borrow my brothers d900 (since I like the camera), would I be able to just pop in my sim card and use it? would I have unlimited internet, messenging and texting that my sidekick plan provides?

You could use the sim, but all you'll get is texting and voice.

the answer is probably yes but ill ask anyways. it will be unlimited texting?

Yes... but you can just get an unlimited text plan for 15 bucks.

Well... not really, Sidekick is the only phone you can not put the SIM card from that phone into a different kind of phone.

The SIM card is programed only to work on the Sidekick. The other poster might be right that you can only use the voice and text messaging.

Just keep in the mind that if the T-mobile network sense that you are using a different phone besides the Sidekick, it may switch phones on you and you may loose the unlimited text messaging.

Now if you had a Blackberry or Microsoft based phone, than I will give you a BIG yes on that.

Well somehow this question hasn't been answered fully yet, so I'm gonna jump in here. The voice and texting will work ONLY. If you send picture mails you WILL BE CHARGED at the normal per message rate since the sidekick doesn't do MMS. As far as data, it won't work at all or will work at the per kilobyte rate for customers without a data plan. The reason behind this is that the sidekick is set up to transfer all it's data through a proxy server on TMobile's backend. If you use another device, you won't be going through that proxy (and can't), and therefore your sidekick plan won't apply to that data usage.

Not hun! It is not programmed to work only in the sidekick. You will have unlimited texting BUT, once the system regonizes it, it may not work. Keep in mind that you have to pay for MMS. That's not included in the Sidekick data plan.
