Help to find imei # on samsung x426

Hi. I am looking for the code you'd enter in the keypad of your phone to lookup the imei # for the phone. I know it usually starts with #69??#* I know it is similar to this. I can't find it now when I need it. My problem is I have an unlocked Samsung x426 and I tried both a Rogers and Fido sim card with it and they worked fine. Now I sent this phone to my Dad for a gift and when he put a new sim card in it and registered it with Rogers, he is now getting SIM ERROR.
That's all it says. He lives far and he dosen't have another sim card to try in it. He may have to buy a new one. Does anyone else think it's the sim?
Does anyone have the Keypad code?
