Is there a BT headset that actually WORKS ???

Seriously. I've had 3 different Jabra models, and 4 different Motorola models, and have used them on at least a half dozen different phones, and every time the result is the same..

Caller on other end saying Huh ? What ? Huh ? What the H3ll you talking on, I only get about every 3rd word !!

And, although they supossedly have a ~30' range, I get crackles, and dropout if the phone is in my LEFT pocket, and the headset is on my RIGHT ear (or vice versa)

So, am I the only one who can't find a GOOD WORKING combo? or does everyone just put up with it because of the convenience, and geek factor ??

I just use a wired headset.

Seriously... it's a lot easier. Just plug it in and talk. No synchronizing necessary, no worrying about keeping yet another battery operated device charged, and no worry about any radio interference.

I really don't understand the bluetooth headset craze. Unless you strap your cell phone to your toes or something, I really don't see how a short piece of wire is such an inconvenience.

I cannot the number of times that little wire lease/chain came undone while I used a wired headset on the other hand yesterday I got in my car and drove off while I was talking to my dad proiblem was I left my phone at my house only had the blue tooth with me did not get very far.I have used the motorola 810 820 and 500 bluetooths with moto v3s v360s v600s not had any trouble except forgetting the phone.

LOL

The only time my wired headsets came undone was when I was getting out of my car, still wearing the headset, and forgetting the phone was on the passenger seat behind me. Phone got stuck in the hand brake lever, wire yanked out.

Other times, the phone has been dangling off the wire. I've never had a problem with the plug falling out.

I have had a problem with the earphone coming out of my ear when using just a tiny earbud thing in combination with above mentioned stupidty getting out of the car.

I switched to bluetooth as the wired headsets always got caught in the handbrake in my car... Keeping the phone on the windowsill of my home office also gives me a better reception while allowing me to roam around.

My Jabra BT800 has worked very well with most of my recent phones: Motorola V3, SPV C600, SPV M3000 and Samsung SGH-i320. Worked fine with my old backup phone: SonyEricsson T39...

I've had some small issues with my new SonyEricsson M600i, but would tend to blame the phone as it is still quite buggy.

I've been quite happy with the Motorola HS850 since I thought about gluing a piece of foam under the boom to keep the microphone away from my skin but prefer the Jabra...

Best regards,

Stephen

forget jabra, motorola, nokia, plantronics and all those bluetooths. I sell them for a living so one day i decided to get more familiar with my merchandise and I borrowed a samsung wep200 from my store, i thought it would not work as it just sits in your ear and nothing holds it around your ear but i could not have been more wrong. I fell in love with my sweetheart that day. I bought it that night and took it home with me. i get great reception, my talktime is like 6 to 8 hours, stand by time is days on end, and sometimes, it's so comfortable, i forget it's there. its the best ever.

I'd agree with the sentiments about the WEP200. Works great. That being said, I have found that poor bluetooth performance usually has more to do with the phone than the headset. I am mainly talking about connectivity and staticing issues. It can have a major bearing on sound quality as well. Some phones just have crappy BT implementation. If you try several headsets and none work well, you have to look at the common denominator.

The Sony Ericsson HBH-610a Bluetooth headset works amazing!!!

Great Sound, no static or connectivity issues.

I tried it on a I-mate SP5, RAZR V3, and Nokia 6101. Works Flawless.

I am interested in a headset such as the Plantronics 510. I like this headset because of that technology that allows one to switch between two bluetooth devices. How would you rate this headset? And are there any others with similar specs? I have a Samsung T629. Anyone know how this works with this phone? Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Plantronics is the only way to go. More money, but well worth it.

www.jawbone.com -- Best headset ive found... Throw down some money, Get one, and never worry again.

I was in the same position except I tried upwards of 12 different headsets.

As mentioned above, Plantronics is the way to go... that being said, I tried a few different Plantronic sets and finally found the Voyager510 to be the absolute best. So good, I even bought the unit for my landline @ work. So now I have 2 headsets.

Looks sweet. Does it really work as they say? Like the Demo Video?

In the bluetooth section it seems it works but that it isn't all that great - the headset needs to touch your cheek and there is still some clipping of the voice when you start and stop talking due to the DSP. Is it better than most headsets now... yeah likely so. Is it better than the next generation of headsets we are waiting for? Likely not.

Just about everyone in the bluetooth form is waiting for the next series of true jawbone mic headsets (these use sound vibrations through the jawbone and into the ear canal instead of an open air mic near the mouth) - the nextline Q7, the samsung wep400, and now possibly the Argard m10 headset.

But the best headsets right now tend to be the plantronics, the newer sonys, and the nextlink modded ax2 pros.

Some phones only work well with some headsets - one guy had a headset that worked great with his sony phone but horrible with his nokia phone. For me I'm waiting for the jawbone mic headsets; they are not effected as much by backround noise or wind and those two factors always cause huge problems for most other bluetooth headsets.

Finally there are ALOT of fake headsets floating around there - especially moto headsets. Some guys found fakes being sold at cingular and best buy stores a couple of times; that's how many fakes are out there.

Like many replies so far.....I've tried many different bluetooth headsets.

Plantronics 510 and the BlueSpoon AX2 have been the most interoperable, at least, in my experience with Motorola/Siemens/Nokia phones.

If you want a wired headset, the ETY*COM is very good, if your phone has the 2.5mm plug capability.

The Jawbone looks interesting. The reviews seem to be a love it or hate it type of scenario though.

HTH.

I have to agree, it is the best headset I have ever used. Status light could be a bit brighter, but overall sound quality is amazing.

plantronics has a nice one that is 140 bucks and its really good! Oh and what kind on phone are u useing? i have noticed with people useing smart phones have a problem with there bluetooth even if they have the profile to support it.

The Bluespoon AX2 works well with either Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones, in my experience.

Jabra JX10 w/ my PDA phone, SE POS phone, laptop

works flawlessly, can go up to around 7-8ft away no problems

I'm using the Jawbone and it has amazing noise reduction, which, for me is
a MUST.

I'm realy happy with mine, now that I have the genuine article. Got a fake off of eBay, a total POS. Purchased the real one from shop4tech, and couldn't be happier. Asd someone else stated, be aware of fakes. If you're paying under $50, chances are good it's counterfeit.

I like so far: Motorola H3 and SE HBH-608

Posted by: nakoda

two best headsets i have sold/seen are the plantronics voyager 510 (wicked headset, my fave) and the jawbone .. bulky for my taste but the best noise reduction i have ever seen.

Motorola H3 black and regular silver are GARBAGE, they dont work with either my Razor V3 or my Rizr Z3 , seems to me that they have static issue and the people i try to speak to hear them selfs as an ECHO effect.

Motorola HS820

Works with a A900... Must be sayin something!

Posted by: MountainBikerMark

I have yet to find an earpiece that did NOT get at least the 30' or more on my Samsung a930 and yet only, including ones I dont own, my Blueant v12 will get anywhere near that on my LG 8600.
the phone has just as much to do with it as the earpiece, especially if its in a pocket on your left and the the earpiece is on your right. thats asking a lot from a low output signal

Posted by: akura2

I have the WEP200 and it worked great except for extreme wind noise... if there was ANY wind, people on the other end could NOT hear me at all...

the Sony IBV835 works great but doesn't work fully with my T-Mobile Dash (can't control the starting earpiece volume, so it stays too low, and there are no mechanical volume controls)

now (in the process of waiting for the WEP400) I have the WEP410... less affected by wind, more comfortable in my ear typically great ear piece volume...nice-looking... (wish it were all black though)

Posted by: MountainBikerMark

I have now added a Jabra 8010 to my collection and all I can say is WOW.
as far as a jawbone, if its that loud they me able to hear me on the recieving end but will I be able to hear them when they respond.
I was talkig to my wife at lunch today and a tractor trailer was beside me and had his engine revving up to refill his air tanks. I kept asking my wife to repeat herself and when she asked why after repeating herself several times I asked " cant you hear that stupid truck next to me?" she said no. I say the jawbone is not only ugly, fragile, and expensive its also overkill

My Motorola BT-820 stereo headset works awesome with my Samsung M610. A2DP sounds so good!
