This is a dumb question, but do you download the program to your laptop or pc first, or do you just go visit the page for download on your PPC and work that way?
I was also trying to install a phone pad program off of the xda site and i wound up downloading an xml file i have no idea what to do with

you can download from the site if its a cab file or a zip file and it will start installing itself after you start downloading it some are exe files that install thru active sync

From what I understand, .cab files are better because you can just load it up on your microSD card and install it from there or onto the 8525 and load it from there. (space permitting).
.exe file is an automation process, in conjunction with, activesync. It's a cleaner way of doing things but relies on activesync.
Honestly, there is really no difference I think. I download both if permitting and then go from there, having both options. Come to think of it, u need active sync to see whats in your pda?

Some apps sometimes have a desktop component (like Resco Explorer) ... so, might have to follow the desktop route sometimes.

Going one step farther, once you install something, what is the best way to delete it? I can't find a "remove" option anywhere.
