Just got SLVR L7 few days ago and transferred all numbers from SIM to phone. Currently all numbers display twice (one entry from SIM other from PHONE) so I a duplicate of every name in my phonebook. Is there a function feature to collapse the phonebook and display each number only once or to hide the SIM numbers?

*Tried figuring out on my own and searching this forum and SLVR megathreads but no luck.

Please help a Moto-brother out!

Thanks.

Moto doesn't have the feature that allow you change read from phone or sim only.. which is pretty stupid, thats why I always leave my contacts on sim only never copy to phone.

Is there anything I can do besides manually deleting double entries?

On my RIZR, there is an option to display SIM contacts, phone contacts or both. Maybe there is a new firmware?

If you do not want to do it one-by-one, you can do a "Master Clear" and it will clear all your contacts but I wouldn't do it with your SIM card in it for it might erase that to. There's a seem edit that you can function the phone without a SIM card if you do not have a spare SIM handy. Remember, when doing a "Master Clear", the passcode is all zeros.

Where do I get the newest firmware? Moto website and googling didn't yeild much results! Could you please help out by pasting a link? Thanks!

The firmware is done through a Motorola service center. Unfortunately there is no firmware to fix this.

You can clear all entries with the master clear, but this erases everything. The master reset will reset everything to factory defaut with respect to the menus.

A master clear will not affect the SIM. We generally recommend leaving the numbers on the phone and have a spare SIM or use a program like Moto Phone Tools, DataPilot, or BitPim for back ups. With the numbers on the phone, you can use voice dialing.

Are you absolutely positively 10000000% sure that master clear won't effect the SIM numbers?

I haven't had the issue yet. The SIM is essentially a memory card. The master clear will not affect SD cards in devices either.

We have even flashed quite a few phones with the original SIM card in place with no affect, including complete firmware and flex files

That said, I have seen phones crash for no apparent reason, and prefer to use a blank SIM.
