What stereo headphones are you using with your blackjack? How well do they work?

Posted by: juiceppc

Only bluetooth is an option right?

Posted by: spartanrob

There is this adapter I found on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...74260&rd=1&rd=1

or the Samsung headphones:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...47059&rd=1&rd=1

Or Bluetooth

Nice! I'm gettin this.

I got these at Amazon and they work great:

http://www.amazon.com/Jensen-WBT212...8&s=electronics

Also for bluetooth headphones they are dirt cheap. They sell a more expensive pair with a bluetooth dongle for use with non-bluetooth equipment, but for the BJ this is unnecessary. I did notice that the headset functionality does not work at all. I have try to set it for handfree use (there is a checkbox for it in the BT settings) and it just does not work, so this is strictly for music listening only, but for that they work really well.

My Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo Bluetooth headphones have amazing sound quality and bass. Better than my $50 wired ones from Sharper Image.

Im using the Samsung ones, They were cheap and fine. I just want them for my 15 minute car ride to and from work.

check these out it comes with a mic option to use your 3.5mm headphones

I order this one also, and will report when it's received...

I got a set of Jabra BT 620's for $59.99 at newegg free shipping. They retail for $129. Hands free calling and Bluetooth stereo music work fine. Sound really good.

Posted by: ventivent

I've been using the new Logitech Freepulse stereo headphones. Unfortunately, they don't come with a built-in mic, but the do come with a 3.5mm adapter/transmitter, which fits any standard headphone jack. For phone conversation, I use Plantronics 655 which work well, but don't do Voice Command.

I bought the above adapter and it didnt work

Posted by: BigEvan23

Is anyone using this adapter? If so, how is it working. I dont trust bluetooth stereo, thinking of going bluetooth headset for my talking and adapter + existing wired headphones for music/slinging.

I just received it yesterday, and it's mono. If you plug it in all the way- it only plays out of the left earcup. If you pull the plug 1/4 in. out - it plays a mono sound out of both earcups. But, It's not stereo!!!

Who wants to try it first, or is Samsung going to be offering one? At this point I'm considering BT Headphones, but hate to give up my foldable, and excellent sounding Sennheiser travel Headphones...

for $5, i ordered one.

Also picked up the black silicone case. I'm gonna x-acto out the keypad cover portion to make one of those cases that I've seen for the Q.

This could possibly be an option for using your favorite 3.5mm headphones. This unit will utilize bluetooth (you can now keep your phone in your pocket and control it functions) so you can listen to your music and answer calls (receiver part only)

What case are you referring to? Pictures?

I'm running the HP IPAQ Stereo Bluetooth headphones ... they're working great. They're actually the same the Logitech.

I just got these from ebay today it works great but what sucks about the phone is ONLY when i hit play/stop rewind/fast forward it will make this freaking annoying pop sound, 1st tried it in my car and caused my subwoofer to bump to that pop (very annoying) and on my ipod earphones.

I used both tcpmp and windows media player and same thing happens, anyone else experience this? I remember my former treo 650 worked great with tcpmp w/o any flaws. If i buy Core 2.0 think that will help my blackjack? anyone else experience this or have any recommendations? anyone having this problem with the bluetooth head/earphones??

edit:
oh yeah music sounds like crap with ipod earphones but better in my car, probably need to tune the eq for the earphones but the eq in tcpmp isn't simple to adjust

Posted by: simpleton

I have the same problem with that adapter. I've tried it with other programs too, and the same pop sound is there. I tried using the headphones from the cingular store, and those worked fine, with no popping sound.

Posted by: VelfarreClubber

As soon i posted i jammed to the nearest Cingular store and bought the overpriced oem samsung headphones like the above poster and have no problems what so ever! it would be nice if i can raise the volume a little higher for mp3's/mpegs with low volume. Now my only problem is i need a solution to play mp3's/mpegs in my car! Samsung really needs to make an adapter for 3.5mm jack, Motorola has one for the Slvr

Whats worse about that pos adapter i bought on ebay is now the connection is loose inside and makes horrible sounds, i feared it would blow my car speakers so i put my ipod back on to my tape adapter. Sucks one of the reasons i bought the blackjack is so i can have a true all in one device, i don't want to duct tape an ipod nano to the back of my phone!

I'll be looking to see if i can get some sort of blutooth module for aux input in my car and demand Samsung to make a oem 3.5mm adapter and return the headphones i bought at cingular (paid $32.31) where i can get it half the price on ebay

Posted by: rewerb

Arghh, I'm just gonna buy the 30 dollar Jensen WBT212. It's aggravating that Samsung makes us buy accessories to listen to music. What's the point of having Cingular Video and Music if on the bus I have to listen out of a Tinny speaker and annoy everyone else??

Posted by: VelfarreClubber

Yeah exactly! after some research on the bluetooth adapters I determined nothing beats a true wired connection for sound quality.

Posted by: fthahim

im wonderinf if there is anyways i can play music through the blackjack to my motorola h700 . if anyone knows if thats possible?

Posted by: kysuv

hi guys,
i also have the problem with the annoying popping sound between songs with the headphones adapter. I found a media player 'Pocket Player' by Conduits Technologies, which has a cross fade function that eliminates the noise between the songs, however it does not do so on stop or pause. nevertheless the player is quite cool with all its bells and whistles.
i was wondering if anybody found an adapter without this annoying bug?

Posted by: BigEvan23

i too have the popping...but the popping sounds so clear on my Shure E4's

Posted by: VelfarreClubber

Its currently sold out but good to know theres a product out!
http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/...s%2fMulti+Media

Posted by: rewerb

Wow, can't believe that Samsung would actually make something that didn't require us to pay an outrageous amount of money, o wait, the price isn't listed, on something that should have been included in the first place...

Posted by: MilanoRex

I bought the Martin Fields USB to 3.5mm adapter from doml.com and it works GREAT on my 8525. You can't beat 11 bucks shipped! it's pretty small too.. does the blackjack use the same 11pin mini usb connector?

The BJ is not a mini USB, unfortunately.

I got the same exact ones made by Samsung on ebay about 2 weeks ago and with shipping paid $10.

Posted by: slim724

thoght I lost my cheapo $5 ebay adapter for the last 5 days, couldn't find it anywhere, but today while I was doing laundry it fell out of my pants pocket, after going through a 88min super wash cycle and 80min dryer cycle in brand new whirlpools! plugged it in and it still works like a champ in stereo! listening on it now as I write this, still has the pop between songs though, but on the upside it's much softer now!

Posted by: j bowl

so i should stick my adapter in the washer for a few cycles to reduce my popping noise? =)

Posted by: slim724

haha, except i meant that the adapter was softer, not the popping between songs!

Posted by: jomo25

FYI - The BJ-to-3.5 adapter sold on DayDeal also makes the popping sound between songs and on play/pause presses.

So, who will be the first to cut the Samsung POS headphones without the popping, and solder it to the 3.5 jack end of the adapter they bought to see if they can create their own adapter without the popping?

C'mon, someone's gotta be desparate enough!

Does anyone know if these Logitech headphones will work with my LG VX9900. My phone supports the A2DP profile but I'm not positive these headphones do. The look the same as the HP Ipaq ones mentioned earlier in the thread.

Did you contact Logitech? I heard people had them replaced with thier newer headphones.

No but I think people stopped contacting them a while ago about this bcuz they discontinued this model.

I'd be willing to do this but i have absolutely no experience with soldering, and would that even work?? however i spoke w/ samsung accessories dept. and she told me to check back in about 2 weeks for the products i listed above, she also said it is made for the helio phones, but im sure the 20 pin adapter will work w/ the bj since they all share the same pins

Posted by: kysuv

I cant quite believe that the popping sound is there.
Does anybody realize implications?
We are talking about a new paradigm and yet smartphone manufacturers appear to be ignorant not such of the stupid popping sound which is really a show stopper, but of selling the idea of converging mp3 player and the phone.
Iphone is due to snatch new multi billion markets and the rest of the world is watching.
For me the only reason not to have to have an iphone but just a regular smartphone is to have no popping sound.
Others may need double digit gb capacity and perhaps the appeal.

Well, I can report that this adapter DOES NOT WORK with the BlackJack. While it does connect, the 2.5mm plug does not transmit any audio to headphones OR headset... back to the drawing board and $20 poorer...

I bought those for my Blackjack and they seem to be working fine. If your phone supports A2DP I don't see why it wouldn't work. The headphones sound great if you hook it up using the included transmitter, but when connected directly to my Blackjack, it doesn't sound nearly as good. I tried tweaking some settings in the registry but I don't think it made much difference. I haven't had a problem with it cracking yet, but I expect it to.. will probably tape it together when it does break. For 35 bucks, it's worth it.

I got them and they work with my enV an/or the transmitter. They are a little tight but I loosened them using heat trick dessribed on Amazon. Downsides is that they could be more comfortable and no mic.

Posted by: cletepurcell

My first post but I have been following this thread for a while. I am completely disappointed in the sound quality of the mp3 player. It may be the adapter, (the popping one), but even if you could live with the popping the sound quality is very poor.

I listened for 2 days while working out and then my wife's ipod nano after tiring of the popping. What a huge difference in sound quality. I love the phone, but I will also be packing the nano for trips.

I'm sorry I invested in 2 micro sd cards and the adapter, but I too assumed that with all of their promotions based on music and video that the sound would measure up. It just doesn't, but I'll keep reading to see if a new adapter becomes available for my shure e2 earbuds.

I don't think Cingular is going to sell a whole lot of music for this phone.

does the track id and all that good stuff work? where did you get yours from?

Other than not being able to transmit very far my southwind stereo bt headset works fine.

If you are an audiophile these aren't great but for use while doing other things like joging or housework they work just fine.

Posted by: SantosC

Firstly, I want to let you know that popping doesn't happen for all headphones. Some headphones don't have the popping, or have only faint popping. Depending on what headphones I attach to my adapter, I getting differing levels of popping and sound quality. I recently bought a nice pair of Shure e3g headphones and they pop badly. Not only that, the sound is scratchy and the headphones can't handle the base. considering how good these headphones are in reality, I imagine it's an issue with the adapter...but I do wonder why others don't have that bad a problem with popping or base.
Even unaltered samsung headset has faint popping.

Anyway, I tried it. I bought the samsung headset and tried soldering stuff...well...my soldering didn't work so well, but I did find some interesting information.

here is a picture of the headset:
o-,
--->---(a)--<0>--(b)---<|]
o-'

here is a picture of the popping adapter:
o=>----(c)--(d)---<|]

Here's what I tried.

I soldered (b) and (c) and connected my headphones to the female 3.5mm connector. Nothing changed, popping was still there, and quality was even worse because I am apparently bad at soldering.

I short-circuited (a) and (b) so that I am using the samsung plug and headphones, but I skip the circuitry with the call button and microphone. This caused the samsung headphones to pop. In other words, what is causing the popping to not happen is some circuitry.

Next, I soldered (c) and (a) together, keeping (b) intact. Then I connected my own headphones. By this point, I had soldered, unsoldered, and used so many different cables that the quality of sound was terrible...but the popping was definitely gone.

As a subsequence, I can assert that if you are building one of these adapters, make sure to keep the microphone part because that is what is keeping it from popping. Which makes me think, has anyone tried this:
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?...418&page=1#tabs
If the circuitry is the same, it should allow pop-less audio when using the adapter.

I might get another headset and build another adapter with much more care to detail.

Posted by: VelfarreClubber

Thanks for feedback!

Posted by: fastwanabe

The adapter from DAydeal like the one in the link from SantosC does have the pop. I'm currently using it. My ipod pops really loud but my sony headphones dont pop really loud.

BUMP - Any decent adapters out there?

Just got this from WirelessGround.com
http://www.wirelessground.com/sa20to2winmi.html

It is much better than the ebay one which it replaces.
Much better sound, louder, almost unnoticeable click between tracks and it has a microphone that is really clear.

Me and my blackjack love it.

Posted by: duncanhoo

what type of headphones are you plugging in? the website says 2.5mm ?

Posted by: PhopsonNY

I am using Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones.

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsit...?transid=500370

The adapter makes it possible to listen without the noise canceling and with the it activated, I don not always have to listen at maximum volume.

Since writing my last note, I have noticed that I really don't hear the click between tracks... I hear more the break from wont track and the start of another. Sometimes this can be a bit abrupt and sound like a click.

Has anyone ever considered modifying a blackjack and installing a stereo jack?

I'm not sure what the inside of a blackjack looks like or how much room there is but if a wire adapter is possible, I would think it is possible to connect it internally if there is enough space.

Posted by: nvisi0n

lol the inside of a blackjack is tighter then a flys rear end.

Posted by: Enrico Ng

oh, that makes sense.
Has someone posted pictures somewhere? I'd be curious to see what it looks like.

Posted by: Enrico Ng

So has anyone been successful locating a good headphone adapter that does not make popping sounds. I see the one with the mic built in, but I'd like to reduce size and weight as much as I can.

The cingular site is selling one for $10

"Stereo Headset Adapter"
"Adaptor for 3.5mm (4-pole) headset or headphones."

https://www.wireless.att.com/busine...ories/71589.gif

I see two on ebay, one is 2" with a thicker cable

the other is 3" with a thinner cable

and I see this one with a gold connector

Posted by: Enrico Ng

I got a cheapo adapter on ebay that makes the pop sound (it came with a car charger).

Here's one "workaround" option. Get PocketMusic It has an option for "gapless playback" and even crossfade. The music is never "stopped" when you switch from track to track. The only time you hear the pop is when you start and stop.

It is prob still better to get a good adapter since the pop prob isnt good for your speakers. I'm not sure but I think my earphones started to heat up in my ears alittle. might have been my imagination though

My main issue with the one adapter that works is that its quite long so I have to carry around an extra long cable wherever I go. Its already enough of a hassle just to have to carry an adapter at all. Especially for a mobile device.
