8525 wake up on new msg/notification

I'm one of those who like to keep the phone in my pocket. I've never understood why it has to wake up for notifications. My old devices would always turn on for txt msgs, incoming calls and even push email driving me to set outlook for white list only because of excessive junk. After using the 8525 for a few days I have noticed that it doesn't wake for new email! I can loosen my junk filter now.

If this is being done with email, couldn't it be done with other alerts? I basically do not want my phone turning on without pressing the power button - ever. I've even disabled buttons 1 & 2 because they are easily pressed when in a pocket. It's hard enough to manage power using 3G without having the screen on all the time. I would like it to play sounds or vibrate but there is no need to have the device on in my pocket while in a meeting or driving my car.

It seems as though this might be accomplished with a reg hack or app if they were able to setup email that way.

It doesn't really do what I want but the WM5 beta of Screen Guard is out...
