ActiveSync Support Code Error: 85002003??

I also posted this in the T-Mobile Windows forum but I am just thrown for a loop with this.

Can someone give me any insight on this error:

For the past day or so I believe I have been receiving this for reasons I am not sure of. I confirmed all of my settings as well as other information and all of it matches. Just all of a sudden it started. I even downloaded the new Beta of ActiveSync and still no go. Any ideas?

In addition to this error, on my phone I receive an error message stating: Your internet is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections.

This has not happened before, and troubleshooting with the techs at Mail2Web is not helping either. They seem as stunned as I am, so any help would be appreciated.

If it also helps I am on T-Mobiles BB Unlimited plan ($19.99) and again all of my data settings are correct (everything works fine when I disconnect from my pc.)

I'm also experiencing the same issue. I believe it is not ActiveSync related. Basically when the phone is attached to the PC TCP/IP connectivity is going thru the USB cable, i.e. if I use the phone to browse to google.com unattached to the PC it works (IP via the T-Moblie network), however when attached to the PC it doesn't work (IP via the USB cable).

Power-cycling the phone resolves the problem. However, I don't consider that as a true solution.

I'm also have the same problem with an Axim x51v. When I finally thought I had all the wrinkles ironed out concerning ActiveSync and my Axim, the Windows Mobile gods decided once again to frown down upon me. Since I received my new Axim x51v, I have been enjoying my new found ability of syncing directly to my company’s Exchange servers. My PDA transformed from a fun novelty to useful instrument that is an integral part of my workday.

Up until around the 24th, I was able to sync with the Exchange servers whenever I placed my Axim on the cradle, every 10 minutes via my phone’s Bluetooth modem, and by Wifi when available. It is such an incredible experience having your most recent e-mails at your finger tips, your calendar updated on the fly, and your contacts immediately added to your Outlook.

About a week ago, my Axim stopped syncing with the Exchange server when using ActiveSync. When I place my PDA on the cradle I receive an error that reads:

The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network conditions.
Support Code: 85002003

ActiveSync will continue on and sync my notes, files, and favorites. It is just the Exchange server that will not work. Interestingly enough, the Exchange sync is not totally broken. I can still sync directly to the servers using my cell phone and using the available wireless. I’m not sure how this works.

Since the problem began, I have done the following in an attempt to fix:

* Deleted the Exchange server on the PDA and recreated.
* Deleted the Exchange server on PC and recreated.
* Deleted the partnership from the PC and PDA and recreated.
* Reinstalled ActiveSync
* Reloaded entire computer with new Windows (this was done for other reasons, but was part of the troubleshooting)
* Recovered PDA from past back-up file that previously was able to sync with Exchange servers (12/21)
* Hard reset PDA to factory settings and recreated Exchange partnership

None of these items have helped the situation. I still can’t get my PDA to sync to the Exchange servers when cradled. Now I did make another discovery while experimenting – I can no longer surf the web when I am connected via ActiveSync. When I click on PIE, I get the “Cannot Connect” dialog if I do not have Bluetooth on. If I do have Bluetooth on, my PDA will dial and connect via my Sprint cell phone. It is not using the internet connection of ActiveSync at all. This seems like it might be related to the problem, but I can’t get my head around it.

have you looked at this site for potential solutions? it's helped me resolve some of my AS issues...

That is an incredibly handy link. It is now one of my bookmarked favorites, but it isn't helping me this time. It reads:

Try again later. Ensure device is able to browse Internet sites.

The problem is I can't go to an internet site while I am syncing. That is something I've always been able to do in the past and I suspect it is the problem now. I've tried again and again and I haven't been able to connect. I hope someone out there has an idea.

i'll assume that you've got Push email working when you're not connected to your PC. if so, i'd modify the "Internet Connection" settings in ActiveSync (Tools-->Connection Settings?) ; cycle through each setting (Automatic, Work & The Internet) to see if that helps. at the moment, i can't think of another option.

Well, I did nothing. I was waiting to see if anyone had any ideas and the problem mysteriously went away on it's own. I put my Axim on it's cradle this mornign and it magically went and did its thing. I'm not sure if I should hate or love ActiveSync.

I would hate it.

I spent numerous hours searching my error and and many fixes and still to date it works on and off without any reason for it. As of now my work computer gives me the same error message (although it worked last week) and my new laptop at home works fine, so i cannot figure it out at all.

I will say when I do have the error I also cannot use data features on my phone like streaming music, etc... I liked to do this at work so my phone could charge and I could listen at the same time but cant do that as of right now. Also my weather program does not update until un-docked from the computer when the error occurs.

Again for no reason it will fix itself and work again without any explaination. It just leaves me scratchin my head wondering.....very upsetting to say the least.

Great.. I am having the exact same problem.. Yesterday my PPC quit syncing with the exchange server in the cradle.. I changed nothing.

I hope mine clears itself up soon too.

You can try this little trick.

Uncheck everything that is currently syncing. Disconnect the device and then reconnect the device. Add each item that syncs one at a time. So change the settings and add contacts to sync and then sync the device. Continue this process until you have each item added. Did that help?

Dan when you get this error you do not have the option to really do anything, especially unchecking what is/isn't syncing. So I am unsure as to what you mean by this?

At my work right now the only thing my phone can do is charge and that is it without any options. When I get home I will connect and everything will sync just fine.

It is very strange to say the least and I have just learned to deal with it, although I shouldn't have to.

Try Opening Microsoft Outlook First Then Connect Your Dash To The Usb/sync

Don't change these settings while the error message is up. You should be able to open activesync while the device isn't connected and tell it not to sync contact, email, favorites, and whatever else your syncing. Basically connect the device but have it sync nothing. Before you begin your next sync add one item at a time and then do a full sync.

Whatch the syncing very carefully. Does it sync any of the items? Sometimes it will sync contacts and then go on to the next item and then error out. I have seen this when certain emails cause the sync to fail. See if you can pinpoint which item is causing the error.

I saw this tip somewhere along the line and it has helped me get going again on few occaisions. I'm not sure if it is pertinent to your situation, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway if you weren't already aware of it.

In connections, select the usb to pc icon and as the selections states..."Changing the type of USB connection your device uses can help with problems connecting ActiveSync." The check box either enables or disables advance networking functionabilty.

The problem is the advice you are giving is for a person that syncs to their Outlook on their computer. I believe the majority of the people experiencing this issue are sycing via their internet connetion to an Exchange server. Most of the time you use the pass-through connection that you create when you cradle your device. This is what is creating the error. For myself, my device syncs with the Excahnge server flawlessly if I use Wifi or Bluetooth via my cell phone.

What this means is your PDA will not get far enough to change those settings because the only thing that you are actually syncing to on the computer acould be notes, files, and favorites. So, our PDA's are successfully syncing to the computer. My sync completes to the computer and has no error. My sync to the Excahgne server (that is separate entity from Work PC) is what is erroring out on the cradle.

Anyway, as was predicted my problem came back. About 3-4 days ago I started getting this crazy error again and I'm not happy. It's able to be delt with since I can sync to all three items (Exchange, Work PC, Home PC), I just can't do the syncing all at once since Excahgne won't sync in the cradle.

I have had the same symptons as tiger_splash. I found that my problem was solved by changing a setting in the Microsoft ActiveSync File->Connection Settings...

In the Connection Settings dialogue, I changed the [This computer is connected to] drop-down value to "Internet". By default, it was set to Automatic.

In the original post, Shackk was using a Beta version of the software.
I am using Version 4.1.0 (Build 4841) of Microsoft ActiveSync
I have an HTC TyTN running Windows Mobile 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)
Hope this helps.
