I was hoping on the N75 coming in 2 weeks or so, but that looks doubtful. So I need to start thinking about alternates. Basically its down to the W810i or the A707. Can anyone help me decide? I like flip and external music controls but I heard there were quality and volume issues with the A707. I like how the W810i turns like a real camera also...help!

a707 is a far superior phone and has better volume and music quality than a w810i regardless of what you hear.

i like my a707, but the w810 is basically a music player with a phone in it. im pretty sure they designed everything around it being a music phone. i havent had it, but i would think that the w810 has better sound...but mayb thats just me

The only good thing about the a707 i could say is that people on the other could hear me great. That's it for me though, cause my end sounded terrible.
I don't know how could compare the quality of music coming out of the a707 to w810. I switched my a707 for a blackjack and used the same pair of headsets and the blackjack audio qualilty was so much better. w810 is the best music phone so far for Cingular.

The music player on the 810i is better as the a707 is buggy. It is picky about what files it will recognize and list. Hopefully a firmware fix will take care of that.

The 810i on the other hand has a more stable music player but it pops and crackles between tracks, very annoying.

Also, earpiece volume on both phones is not the best but the a707 is much better.

The RF on the W810i is AWESOME! but the a707 is a nice phone.

really? i thought it was just buggy firmware on the W600i's i had. do all sony ericsson phones do this when it switches to the next track in the music player?

I guess so!

I've had the A707 for a week now and I really like this phone. I've enjoyed having it much more than the phones I have had in the past, and I highly recommend it.

i tried the A707 and am going to stay with my w810i... much better phone IMO. haven't had any problems yet it 2 months of use and the walkman features blow the 707 outta the water.

Honestly, I'm torn in between the two, when i got my w810 the sync wasn't in stores yet, but now i'm wondering if i would have got that instead of the w810. The only reason why i would say this is becuase to me, having a candybar phone is to hard to take care of, with the main screen exposed, sliding it in your pocket is a no, no. Yeah get a screen protector, but once you've scratched it, the screen that is, like i have... you wonder if there is any point. I COULD GO on and on, but i won't. Still, the w810 comes with a lot more features than the 707 does, starting with what's in the box, the w810 comes with a usb cable, something absent from the sync, which is confusing, becuase it's a music phone, probably none of this makes sense.

Actually thats my dilema. W810i=better features, but I almost need a flip because I don't want to risk the screen.

just put a screen protector on right after you get it. problem solved?

They do make a crystal clear case for the w810i which removes all worry that you will mess the phone up.

One thing that the w810i doesn't do (at least according to their website) and that the SYNC does do, is use Yahoo Unlimited to go. It's the 15 a month "rent all our songs" service.

W810i = Hiss Hiss

1% harmonic distortion. Sound is crap.

Well one thing to take into consideration is that the Sony Ericcson doesn't really have class leading build quality. It feels cheap in your hand.

I'm torn between the two because of two main factors:

3G and Battery Life.

The w810i battery life is superior to the a707's but the a707 offers 3g which is ideal for internet browsing and other things that require speed.

Anybody know of any good extended batteries for the a707 that'd match it with the w810i's battery life? If so I'm sold to the a707.

fwiw, i've never had any battery issues with the a707.

I have a w810i, just got it a few days ago but I may switch to the sync or lg cu500 because the w810i does not support bluetooth a2dp for bluetooth headphones - a big no no for a music phone

Posted by: wahoo2dore

buddhamonk,

phonescoop is your friend. seriously, why didn't you look up the specs beforehand?

Posted by: buddhamonk

well, I still have a month to decide whether to keep it or not - and so far I've been very happy with the w810i - I think i'm gonna stick with it even though it doesn't support a2dp.
