Please test my P800-optimized site

Hi!

I developed a site in XHTML basic format that should be viewable and optimized for the P800 phone...

http://p800.home.mindspring.com

Please check the site out from your P800 phone and tell me what you think. Free Kylie and Lenny Kravitz ringtones!

The pages I made validate as valid XHTML but I can't test them in a P800 yet; still waiting for mine from SE.

The links that are active provide links to hopefully P800-friendly text web sites (aka "handheld-friendly" and "palm-friendly") and a page with a set of 4 midi ringtones (short rings I edited myself with Cakewalk).

This is my first try at XHTML and hope to use this as a base for developing blogger scripts/modules that work with PHPWebSite and/or NucleusCMS. I'd like to eventually make an app that would allow one to blog and post pictures from their P800 phone. I'd get the basics going and post what I have on SourceForge for further open source tweaking by others.

Thanks...

Gene

Nice!

I am looking around now. As a note, I am using the standard mode in Opera...not "Fit to my screen" It looks better in normal mode. Icon placement is nicer. I will attach a screenshot of each view
Midi downloads work well.

Here is how it looks in Normal mode:

can't upload pics...sorry

Pix upload using the default OEM P800 browser....LOOKS NICE!!

As ShovelEd mentioned, icons are not viewable using Opera.

Okay, icons now appear using Opera. Great P800 site which is worthy of a bookmark. However, I cannot get past the main page as links on the site appear to be dead.

Thanks for checking my site out and the screen grabs.

I'm going to look into this Opera "normal" and "fit to my screen" mode issue, that's one I didn't expect. Hopefully there's a meta tag similar to "palm-friendly" that would tell the browser not to reconfigure the content since it's already designed for a small screen. I wonder if there are similar viewing differences on Opera with SE's own page...

...that site is XHTML Mobile Profile where mine is XHTML Basic (I'm using Adobe GoLive as my editor).

Sorry for the "bandwidth exceeded" message, I've started getting those message pages too. I'm nowhere close to exceeding my monthly bandwidth according to the server logs, I don't get it. I'm going to move my test site to a different server within a few days and hopefully things will work well all the time.

Have either of you tried the midi ringtones from my site? I tried to make them as short midi "loops" that hopefully the P800 would play as a contiguous ringtone when in repeat mode. I wonder if they truly loop continously on the P800 or if there's a pause? That'll drive my future midi editing, designing for a looping ring or a discreet standalone ring. I have about 700 full midi songs just waiting to be edited into ringtones. :-)

Thanks again for testing!

Unfortunately, the ringtones do not loop. They pause for a second or so before it relpays. Your efforts are strongly appreciated; keep up the good work!
