Hi, I tried a search. I think the answer I got is correct. But I'd like to double check.

I have the $50 unlimited data plan.
I have the Treo650.

On the Bluetooth screen there is an option to enable Dial Up Networking.

I turned it on and connected it to my laptop via bluetooth dongle.

Am I correct in believing that this is not costing me anything extra because it is part of my unlimited data plan?

I was curious because when I connected briefly, there were some hash and star codes that were entered.

Correct, it does not cost you extra.
