Hello, I just recently purchased the nokia 9500 off of ebay for $264. Good deal I believe, but there's always a catch. The seller said in the description that the 4 buttons by the screen don't work, from what I'm hearing these are crucial buttons that are needed. Through a painful 2 hour search on google, I found an article that said to take the battery out and reset the phone if buttons aren't working, I guess if it's a firmware issue. But if it's a hardware issue, should I buy a new housing for it and change it myself or check with the warranty or find a cell phone repair shop to do it? I have experience with taking phones apart, mainly motorola's, but this is a smartphone, I would have to be extremely careful. Thanks for your help!

if it is software you could try to format it, however the buttons would have to work for that to go. i think it is like control-f then put battery in or something. it will then load the formatter thing and you have to use the side buttons to say yes so that would test if it is something in the phone because the os wouldn't be loaded yet, maybe?

Darn. When I receive it I'll fiddle around with it and see what's wrong or open it up. So, no other buttons can be used to answer the question?
