Do I need the SIM in to do a Hard Reset (Treo 650)?

I am trying to do a hard reset on my Palm 650 but I already put the SIM card in my new phone. I try to do a hard reset (to get rid of all the stuff I've put on it before I sell) but it requires a SIM. If I put my SIM (that is in my new phone) will it erase all my SIM contacts? Is there any way around this?

A hard reset should not require a SIM--only the phone portion requires that, and you can turn the phone off while still using the PDA.

I am getting "Please check your SIM card to see if it is damaged or missing", I have no idea.

than put your sim card in than. i have done many hard resets on my treo 650 in it with no effect on my sim card..
