V330 firmware on a v551?

I downloaded the t-mobile v330 firmware R472_G_08.18.1DR GSPV330TMB01NA0E6_1FF from motomodders.net and installed it on my cingular v551. Then the phone would no longer turn on after pressing the power key. Nor would it show up as a usb device when connected to a computer.

So I disassembled the phone, grounded the testpoint and flashed the v551 firmware back into the "Blank Neptune LTE" device using usb-smart. And the phone appears to be functional again.

Has anyone else had trouble with the R472_G_08.18.1DR GSPV330TMB01NA0E6_1FF flash from motomodders?

I used it about 5 months ago the same way as you, 551 to 330. Worked fine then, but things do change I guess.

what bootloader version does your phone have?

Sorry man, I dont even have that phone anymore so i couldnt tell you. I have the one that i used though, if you want it I can upload it somewhere i guess. You'll have to unlock it though, I'm 99% sure that its locked.

i needed some R472 kjava certificate files for tmobile. flashing the t-mobile firmware onto the phone looked like a quick way to get them. but this idea turned into a very time intensive procedure that involved disassembling the phone, removing part of a metal shield, and connecting the testpoint to ground.
