Reception: 8400 vs Katana vs RAZR V3m

Wondering how the reception on the 8400 stacks up against the Katana and the RAZR V3m. Of the three, only the Katana still has analog roaming
(why must EVDO phones lose their analog roaming!!! 
)
...but the 8400 does have an external antenna, which supposedly helps.
Is the 8400 a downgrade from the Katana? If so, is it still superior to the RAZR?
