my manager informed me about the transition to a service department in the near future and asked me if i was interested. the job is basically service only, no quotas, no activations, upgrades, sales of the matter. i was told that its a parttime position, which i'm parttime right now, but i was informed that there will be no more commission check.

i'm interesting because i hate quotas, but they are easily attainable, but sometimes stressful and i need mental rehab sometimes. does anyone know about the service positions that will be available in COR store shortly. if so, do ya'll know the pay rate or anything?

at the store i worked at there was an employee just like you. Except he was full-time. He went from a sales rep position to an SSR, which is basically a customer service rep at the store. All he does now is inventory and occasionally will step onto the floor when help is needed. Any sales he does he gets no commission on. When I was there he would give the sale to whomever he saw fit. I'm not sure if Cingular was suppose to compensate his hourly with what he was making with commission (i'm sure they're suppose to), but now all he's making is just the same hourly rate he was making as a sales rep, with no commission.

I started at the company as a sales rep then moved to ANS where they are just hourly. I was compensated for what i made at the store with commission and ended up making $16/ hr there. I would have thought they would have done the same for my co-worker when he took the position as SSR.

u see, i wouldn't mind doing it, but if i'm getting short-changed then i would consider it. my manager told me that he didn't know the details about it yet, but would give me more info. if the hourly pay is fair, then i would definitely do it. if not, i'll stick to sales.
