KRZR phonebook swap problems - do any of you have an answer?

I am a Sprint employee - I took my Samsung a940 and my MOTO KRZR K1M to my Regional Service Center today to have them perform a phonebook swap.

They got basically about 25 of my 165 contacts transposed. I was handed back the two handsets and was told, "We tried six times, and don't understand what happened. This is the best we could do."

I am beginning to accept that I am going to have to keystroke in 165 contacts into my new phone via the standard telephone keypad.

This, as you might imagine, does not fill my heart with joy - not only am I a wireless professional, I am a believer that in a modern age, differences in approaches to cataloging data between handset manufacturers need not render a user completely incompacitated for two business days.

What am I missing here? Can I transferr the contact info between the phones via Bluetooth en masse?

Wow - no response to what should be a commonly seen problem.

I solved it by sending each contact through Bluetooth from the old phone to the new phone. It was tedious, but far less so than keying in all my numbers.

Mostly effective - except when the moto software would hack apart a business' name.

I started fresh: exported my Outlook contacts to a .csv file. Imported .csv file into BitPim and transferred to phone. Some contacts had errors and didn't transfer, but most did fine.

I've heard of BitPIM but do not know where to find it. Did you use a standard data cable? I have one that came with my Blackberry 7520 but don't have the driver for the phone; Moto says that they don't have a driver either and I have to contact... you guessed it - the Sprint store.

www.bitpim.org

Standard laptop USB cable, one side smaller for phone, normal size connector to computer (attach to chassis usb port, not low-powered hub)

Driver on Moto developer site:
http://developer.motorola.com/?path=1.2.6.30
Use "motorola handset usb driver"

Music transfer driver patch and instructions on Verizon support site:
http://support.vzw.com/phones/index.html?p=2586
(Really small font way at bottom of page: Download "sync music fix")

There...I just saved you several days of digging like I had to!

Just as a word of warning. Not all Mini USB cables work with mobile phones. Infact my Canon Mini USB cable doesn't even recognize your phone. Most phone manufacturers will void your warranty if you have any damage while connected to any charger or cable other than theirs.

Weird, i thought i had used my cannon cable before reading this and believed it worked.

Tried it earlier this morning, and had to reset phone to get it to charge off of normal usb cable i have after trying my cannon's on my V.
