i've had the same thing happen. i thought it might be my bluetooth headset so i bought a samsung. i haven't received it yet, so i don't know if that fixes it or not.

Grr, I get this too, and I thought it was my Motorola Bluetooth headset.

It is actually very annoying. I love this phone, but I have to admit it is one of it's faults.

Count me in for another sufferer--and with that same feeling that I do NOT want to have to give up such an otherwise wonderful phone. Perhaps we need to contact Cingular en masse, as has been advocated for the Java/GMail/GMaps issue?

I have not yet experienced this problem. I keep my phone locked in HSDPA mode, however.

I called Cingular about this issue. They did not know really what was going on but suggested we try a hard reset. That was no hassle for me since I could easily re-sync the phone to get most data back to it, and sure enough it now seems to be working ok. As I start to reload other programs onto it I'll test it regularly to see if it was something that I put onto it that caused the problem to start.

FWIW I also tried forcing the phone to EDGE to see if it made any difference, which it didn't, but I am seeing dramatically better battery life as other people have noted with that change.

Mine has this problem regularly with Jabra JX10 headset. I will answer the call and it takes a couple of seconds for the audio to cut through on the headset and another second after the "beep" on the headset for me to have the conversation completely up.

I know it's a prob with the Blackjack because my JX10 worked flawlessly with my 6682.

So, did the hard reset work?

And to follow up, how does one do a hard reset?

Weird. I just used a JX10 a couple hours ago with my Blackjack and it worked fine. (Other than it not working with Voice Command, but that's not specific to the particular headset.)

So far it's still working properly after 24 hours, though I have not used it heavily, or reinstalled any of my extra software on it yet.

Settings | Security | Reset, and default password is 0000.
This will delete ALL your data on the phone, returning it to factory config. I don't kow whether it would clear the microSD card, but I popped mine out to be on the safe side.

Ya, not ready to do a full reset to try to fix this.

I didn't recall having this problem so I called my phone just now to test it, and I had no problems. Maybe I just got lucky.

Very cool. Since I basically have no data other than one mp3 and all my contacts (which I transfered over via ActiveSync from Outlook), a hard reset is no big deal for me.

Thanks.

mine does this too but usually just say hello twice but if their is a fix besides hard resetting let me knoe

By way of follow-up, I am pleased to report that my BlackJack is still answering calls properly. I've used it fairly normally, but have not reinstalled any additional software yet.
