Hi guys,

I recently purchased a Sharp 703SHf and got settings for Vodafone Aus from http://forum2.mobile-review.com (see below).

I can make calls, send and receive SMSs and send MMSs but i cannot receive MMSs. Also, i cannot surf the net using WAP - i just get a blank white screen. So i take it some of my settings are not up to date or simply incorrect.

Can anyone give me some ideas how to fix those 2 problems? Cheers

Those settings are straight out of my 903, so they're guaranteed to work. As Jung said, the JP firmware Sharps don't receive MMS, so you can't do anything about that.

As for internet, the speechmark logo shortcut from standby won't work, because the pre-programmed webpage (which can't be changed) doesn't exist on Aus Vodafone live. Go to Enter URL in the Vodafone live menu and enter http://live.vodafone.com, and you'll get the live portal top page. You need to do this each time you want to go there, so you might want to make a bookmark of it.

I also wanna to know who have the setting for 3G and GPRS for Maxis (Malaysia Telcom).

Thanks Al9999! Appreciate the info. The live page works ok (bit slow though). Although i cant access "google" or other webpages - is that not possible?

Also, with my previous phone i could access weather / news / account settings through icons in the phone and an SMS with broadcast the info to my phone. Is there any way this is possible with the 703? Cheers

Depending on your plan (prepaid caps, prepaid normal, post-pay caps, etc.) you may or may not be able to use mobile internet outside Vodafone live. That might be why you can't access them.

Because you have Japanese firmware those icons aren't in the menu and you can't access the SIM application toolkit to get to the SMS based services. Short of changing to Euro firmware, there's nothing you can do about that.
