Sharp TM150 charging problems

My daughter has a Sharp TM150. She would like to keep using it because it is not a common phone and she likes that it is different. The problem is that the phone will not hold a charge. It says that it is fully charged but it isn't. Also, to get the phone to show that it is charging, she has to tie the charger around the phone to get a tight connection. I am not sure if replacing the battery and/or charger will fix this problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions would be welcome.

it sounds like the battery is at the end of it's life , getting a new one (ebay?) might be a fix.
The other thing is that you either have a dodgy socket where the charger goes into or a dodgy connector on the charger by the sounds of it....

I have the same phone, and I'd like to continue using it as well, but the part where the charger goes is messed up. It's broken, and I dont know where I can find a new part to go in there. Would I just have to buy a new one?
