This button doesn't seem to open up the messaging application. If I hold it down, it does turn off the backlight. Does this button work for you guys? Is there a place in the registry where I can remap this button?

Thanks for the quick replies. I realized that I moved all my Program Shortcuts into Folders in the Start Menu including the Messaging icon. Apparently the envelope button points to the Start Menu Folder, the button is working again since I created a shortcut to the messaging program in the Start Menu Folder.
Does anyone know where in the registry I can change where that button points to?

Did you ever figure out a registry tweak to remap / reassign the email key / button? Been searching the forum and finding nothing.

Yes, the buttons on the keypad correspond to the start menu shortcuts. Found this out a while ago when I was cleaning up my start menu.

What I do... is just make the Messages.lnk hidden... so I don't even see it in the start menu.

You can actually make that key anything you want, as long as the link is labeled "messages.lnk"

Some people do this with alternative messaging clients to bypass the default one.

I'm sure if you searched the registry you'd find the reference.
