new Dasher need a little help

greetings, all, i just went from my Nokia 6600 to a HTC dash. i'm a little confused on a couple things, hoping sum1 here could gimme a hand.

(1) when i select ANY file, be it MP3, picture, vid, whatever, i can't find an option to send it via BT. the "send" only provides 3 options and BT is not 1of them. even if i've already connected with another device. now in my BT settings (after selecting "next" a few times), i arrive at a blank screen titled "services", is it supposed to be in there?

(2) MP3 are only selectable as ringtones if i store them in "my documents", if i place them one level deeper in the the folder titled "my music" they are no longer listed when i attempt to change my ringtone from "settings/sounds" so far all media is being stored on the devices memory, so it doesn't really matter to me where i put it, but once i get a micro SD i'd rather store media on there, is this going to be a problem?

(3) some keys stick. i'm hoping this corrects itself once the device wears in a little. sometimes i'll hit "e" and the device will think i'm holding it down, so it'll display a "2", then "222222222222222222222222222222222222222" until i hit another key. it's really a pain. anybodyelse expeerience this?

for ringtones put it in Application Data\Sounds (for the specific ringtones - dont put the whole file)

as for bluetooth id also like to know if it has the same problems as the sda?

no,when I hit "send" i'm given 3 options- multi media, outlook email, text. BT is not listed as an option and I can not proceed without selecting one of the options. and there's no option in BT settings to tranfer any files. if I select a device I've located, (in BT settings) i'm prompted to hit "next" after I do, I arrive at a blank screen titled "services" it seems like this is where i'd get 2 pick a file2 transfer, but there's nothing there.

Check if the OBEX is set to enabled. Sending anything by BT is actually an OBEX (Object Exchange) push.

If you have a Registry Editor, check for

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled = 1 (DWORD decimal)

if it is 0, please change it to 1 (to enable it). Let me know if it works.

Vish - i don't have a registery editor (or, honestly, know what that means...Yet )

B&T - thanx, man, i'll give that a shot as soon as i'm back around the other BT devices. i had assumed "beam" would only be IR. hopefully, that'll do it.

Anybodyelse having a problem with the keys sticking? it's really annoying, especially combined with the predictive input because when the space bar sticks, it'll just start adding word after word (that i'm not entering) to my message til i jump on the delete button. speaking of which, i know i can turn off the T9, but i don't remember what the option was under, can someone please tell me?

the manual provided with the device by Tmobile, was really basic and not that informative.

Search Google for RegeditSTG - its a pretty good editor - once you have it, I can walk you through it if that's really the problem.

I will try B&T's suggestion as well. BTW, there's no IR in the Dash :-)

And yes, I do have the problem with the keys getting stuck as well - not always but sometimes!!

i had the same problem at the beginning as well (speaking of the bluetooth object transfer) just go into ur communication manager and make sure the OBEX is checked in bluetooth settings. and then turn on the beam option. then search for the file through file manager select beam and then it will search for another bluetooth eneabled device...select the on ur going to send the file to and it should work.

as for the keys sticking i havent found a fix for it.

as for disabling T9 whenever ur going to type something hold alt and press space and it should give u the option to choose ABC.

To beam files from or to the phone you need to first go into your comm manager and make sure no. 8 "beam" is activated...
