I'm debating trading my 904sh for a nok 6280.

I have 2 904's so keeping two phones that may possibly not be able to be used is not on my christmas wishlist.

I will prob keep 1 in case I will be able to use it some day.. but tradeing the other away for a 6280 would lose me a lot of $$.

I wanted to try a nokia anyways though since one day i'll inevitably have to upgrade phones and unfortuneately we all know the direction sharp is heading in... *sigh*

should i do it?

I would suggest you not to try Nokia or any other Symbian systems, but if you insist...the N73 should be a better choice.

I've owned a Nokia 6280 - It's a nice phone but as mentioned by DSFX.... it's not a good trade... apart from the fact that Nokia's are too common , although easy to use etc and that phone isn't too bad, the 6280 is worth a bit less than a 904SH. In my opinion. It's hard to judge though because the 904SH is still locked. I would rather trade a 904SH for a SE like a Z610i or something. That phone is sweet. But that's still a crap trade.,.... SE camera quality is better than Nokias in general if you want a camera.

***MAKE SURE U READ THE REVIEW IN MY SIG***

Any questions u got about the review - feel free to ask here rather than bump it , -if- you prefer.... anyways u read the review.... It's not a bad phone, but it's camera suffers, it's a nice little phone fits into your pocket nicely.... but the 904SH is a lot better... If you're going to go for the 6280, while it's a good phone , ask for a bit extra if you do go for it. I can't speak for the N73 as I've never owned one.

Oh yah... one more thing... the unit i reviewed was locked. There are some nice new features especially since they've released a LOT of newer firmwares than the one on the unit I reviewed that was crippled slightly and branded..... like PTT and a whole load of other goodies made it into newer firmwares that aren't reviewed. I suggest you do search for firmwares for this phone in the Nokia forum.

by the way, i do have mixed decisions on this, so make sure u read the review and decide for yourself.....

were the 904SH unlocked (give it the benifit of doubt and dont expect one soon anytime) i would recommend aginst the trade obviously. The 904SH is worth more i think were you to put a price tag on it.

I think it's a good trade on the basis that you can at least USE the 6280. Cam is not as good, and the UI is based on personal opinion (I like S40). The latest firmware fixed a ton of bugs and added A2DP, so I think it's a good trade (especially as you have two 904s whose "ability to work in the US/Canada" status looks gloom indeed)

omg my eyes!! what's wrong w/the 6280's camera?!?! I'm and avid picture taker.. soo meh.. i'll hold off on the trade. lol but the not so happy future of the 904 is killing me... i don't want 1000+$ sitting around doing nothing... well one's an alarm clock.. a very expensive one i might add..

trade it with a 904T or 903SH or something.... 904T is worth less than a 903SH i think.

Nokia Series 40 Symbian isn't that bad at all now. It's S60 that quite seriously sucks. It might be 'smartphone-like', but the counter-intuitiveness and slowness of the OS is downright awful. Series 40 suffers from none of that (well, a BIT of slowness in some places, but not nearly as bad as S60).

Anyway back to the OP's question, I wouldn't be trading a 904SH for a 6280. There's a huge price difference, and I'm of the personal opinion (although I don't weigh into this debate as it usually starts a lot of flaming) that the 904SH will EVENTUALLY get unlocked at some point in time, so eventually, you'll be holding onto two phones that are worth something.

If you absolutely must have the 6280, get it on a contract rather than swapping a 904SH for it.
