Blackjack Voicemail speed dial

All,

I've tried a search and can't seem to find anything on this.

I just picked up a Blackjack and the voicemail speed dial has a blank phone number. When i try to edit the speed dial item (or delete it), the edit function is disabled. I can change the text of the "voicemail" tag, but I can't edit the phone number at all.. can't even navigate to that field.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!
Jake

It should be set up from Cingular when you buy the phone - Hold down 1 and it dials VM....

Hondaguy, that worked! Thanks!

What a bizarre way to handle this function...

As a sidenote, I first plugged in my old cell's VM number. When I'd call up, they'd tell me I didn't have an account. So I stopped by the Cingular store... and they gave me another number to use. Same problem. Finally, I called tech support and they gave me the right number. Yikes!

I also asked Cingular about this and they said that the number thats pre-programmed in the phone should send you to voicemail also, which mine does. They said its some sort of VM "routing" number or something.

Yeah, my problem was that there was no pre-programmed number in the phone when I took possession.

That is Cingular's fault, it should have been set up while they were putting in your SIM card & what not in the store.

the pilot number is read from the SIM. Not something that anyone needs to "set up"

Every time I have purchased a phone from Cingular they have manually entered a phone number for voicemail for me.

I made a contact for voicemail and use that. When I have a voicemail and the top right button says messages and I hit that button, it calls some 908 area code number, but it works.
