Hi guys, I just got my w810i today, imported a few mp3 songs and I was trying to set those mp3 imported by me as my ringtone but the "Select" is grayed out. However when I moved to mp3 songs that were came with the phone, I was able to select it. Please help.

Thanks

the w810 doesn't support mp3 ringtones like the s710a, your going to need to trim down the mp3's. Do a search for the how tos and what not.

which version W810i you use?
I have unbranded Hong Kong version W810i, no prob to use mp3 as ringsound (gotmail.mp3, rovers_return.mp3, theme.mp3)

Unbrand it and you will be able to set any MP3 no matter size or length to your ringer.

There is a 600kb limit on the size of a ringtone MP3.

I usually customize my ringtones anyway, but it's quite simple - just bring your mp3 into a program such as Audacity (it's free...it's good - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/), edit it down to the part you want for a ringtone (usually 30 seconds worth will do) and export it as an MP3 (I use 128kbps MP3 with the LAME encoder), pop it on your phone, and you're done.

I end up doing this most of the time, cause I want certain parts of songs...not just from the beginning.

How do I unbrand it?

You can also shorten songs in iTunes, which is really simple. You go to get info for the song, then put in the times you want it to start and stop at, then right click it and choose export to mp3 and it creates an mp3 of that part of the song.
