V180 Problems

Had trouble -- vibrator stopped working. Ordered USB Smart P2K Tool, hoping to get access to its repair routine, and also its unlock routine. Turned out to be a hacked version. It does have the V180 in its list of phones. Anyway, the problem is that whenever I try to do anything with this tool, it immediately uninstalls the USB modem that I normally use with the phone, and then it tells me it cannot connect. Peculiar. I have to go back into Motorola Mobile Phone Tools so it can reinstall the modem, but then the same thing happens again. My question -- anybody know anything about this tool, and how I can get it to connect? Can I maybe get a more stable Motorola V180 USB modem?
