Push Email on Hermes/TyTn

I have Vodafone's MS Mobile Push email service set up on a Hermes/TyTn/VPA Compact 1605 and have been so far unimpressed with the speed. I have it set up to poll a gmail account and it takes ages for emails to come through. A simple pop connection will retrieve the emails almost instantaneously, but the push seems to take a long time between checks.

Is there a way to set it up with a vodaphone email address which it checks more often?

I have also noticed that it takes ages to send a message or download additional sections of a long email. All in all it's nothing like as good as the Blackberry service. Is there anything I can do or is it just pants?

Thanks.

Just wondering if you're actually using push email - are you actually connecting to a Exchange server for email syncing(Direct Push) or did you just setup your pop email account with outlook mobile? If you are connecting and syncing with an Exchange server, make sure all settings are set to "As they arrive"

I get mail INSTANTLY on my TyTn.. i get them on my phone before I get them on my computer.

Not true push email if you use one service to poll another. Also by doing this you are contriuting to the delay by doing it this way, why don't you use POP3 to the GMAIL account directly and get rid of the middle man so as to speak?

Thanks guys.

It is true push as the Vodafone server is polling the gmail server via pop to get my emails and then the push connection is between the vodafone server and my phone, so no data is sent until mail arrives. The software they provide opens a connection permanently and then awaits a push from the network.
I believe the delay is in the regularity of the vodafone server fetching my pop email. This is something I have control over. I can't see anywhere on the vodafone site where I can create a vodafone email aco**** which should therefore be quicker as it doesn't have to fetch the email from the gmail server.

I don't want to use POP as I have unlimited data via this push function including attachments! When I use pop it goes via my regular data connection and comes off my 20Mb/month allotment.

Has anyone had any experience with Vodafone Business Email in the UK?
