Problem with replacing V3 LCD

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I got my V3's LCD cracked and broken. I ordered an replacement LCD from eBay.
When it arrived, the main LCD won't work at all but the sub-LCD works fine.
I put my old cracked one back again and it works fine.

I return the LCD back to the seller and got an replacement again. Still the same thing.

Anyone has similar experience? Is there anything I need to do with the new LCD to make it work?
I believe my V3 was the very first batch of V3 that was being made, does that make a difference?

no one tried replacing LCD at all?

Motorola used multiple manaufactures for their LCD modules. For some reason, the software versions MUST match the LCD manufacturer or you will have display issues.

There is no easy way to tell the LCDs form each manufacturer apart. any with Ebay sellers offering parts obtained from sources other than Motorola, getting the correct one could be a hassle.

Ususally you will get one that works, but we have quite a few issues with customers and this issue.

yes,
I can back this up.

There are perfectly fine screens that will NOT work with some (usually OLDER) software versions. It appears as though you're out of luck, or better yet, MP to a newer v3 version and chances are it will work.

hmmm... I thought I have pretty new firmare already. But I guess the last time I flash it, it was probably last year already.

It's not the age of the flash or the LCD module. It is a compatibility issue. Certain diplays (based on who the manufacturer is) will not work with certain flash files.

Unless you know the original maunfacturer of the LCD module, and therefore which firmware to flash with, it will be a gambit. They MUST be matched.

damn, am i out of luck then? motox is down too, where can I find newer firmware?

The thing is, the sub lcd would work, but not the main lcd.
