Hi guys,

I just got a red v3m, from us cellular, and ive read a bajillion faqs on several sites and got all sorts of programs and tried a bunch of different methods and im still really stuck. If anyone can help me, id be forever in debt to you.

so i plug my phone in through usb (after running the "DriverTool-421a.exe" program ofcourse) (my phone is off at this point but im not sure that matters) and it goes

small window "found new hardware: motorola usb modem"
bigger window " digital signature not found, the software you are about to install does not have a digital signature etc etc etc" "continue with installation?" yes/no

so i choose yes

then it goes OK DONE "the software for this device is installed but may not work correctly" (motorola usb modem) so i click finish.

at no point does it ask me for the USBMOT2000.INF file

so now it shows up as like a mass storage device in "my computer"
but theres no "motorola usb modem" in the device manager.

im really at a loss

any thoughts?

turn off usb reader in mem card menu ?

It sounds like your phone is in a storage mode. If you go to Settings, Connections, you should have something to set it to "data" or "modem" mode under USB. Then you should be able to get a driver installed.

oh god thank you
now it shows up in the device manager.
thanks guys

umm what do i do now?
(quick question, is the new red RAZR v3m also called a v3cm?) (the red one to help aids in africa, thats what i have)

im not sure how about going about the driver cause windows is still using a default oem modem driver every time or something.

The razr v3m needs to be set as a v3cm in some programs to get all functions to work correctly with it, but as far as I know it's only called that within computer programs, and not in selling it and stuff.

V3C vs V3CM, V3M vs V3MM is more like an internal Phone ID string that PC software uses to determine capabilities/compatibilites... not actual model naming...

V3CM = V3C with MultiMedia Features enabled (like Alltel, MetroPCS, and I think USCellular)
V3MM = V3M with multimedia features enabled.. (like Alltel, MetroPCS, and I think USCellular)

V3C = V3C with MultiMedia Features DISABLED (like Verizon )
V3M = V3M with MultiMedia Features DISABLED (like Verizon )

Take the back off the First Razr from Verizon, Alltel, etc (no memory card slot), they will all be labled V3C... take the back off the 2nd model of the Razr (has memory card slot) from Verizon, Alltel, AMP'd, etc.. the sticker will say V3M.

If the phone shows up as Moto USB Modem in device manager... you can make use of BitPim or MPT... however, if your wireless carrier disabled the multimedia features of the phone (like verizon does) you'll have to seem edit to re-enable them first, before you can make FULL use of Bitpim or MPT.

PS. The drivertool is an OK driver to use for Moto USB Modem mode, but the latest drivers from the MotoDev web site work best.
