Mp3 Ringtones on 8525???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Gents, just got my 8525. Was a Treo650 user. I have been searching and searching for how to play MP3 ringtones on this thing. I've put an MP3 on the device but the only way I can play it is through Mediaplayer. Are there any MP3 ringtone manager programs for PPC? I used Lightwave on my Treo and it was awesome. Looking for something similar. I see that you can assign ringtones per contact but I can't get the ringtone to be part of that list. Can anyone help out a new PPC guy?!?!?!? Thanks in Advance!!!!

Also, how do I setup my bluetooth headset to listen to Mp3's through it? I have it working on phone calls but am not sure how to make it active in mediaplayer.

And thanks again!!!!

The way I found you need to put MP3s on has ringtones is put them in the Rings folder. Here is the pathway to it...

File Explorer/Windows/Rings

In that rings folder is where i put all mine at.

Not a problem at all. Glad I could actually help with something.

Here is another location you can put it in. Applications/Sounds

It actually picks it up when you assign ring tones to your contacts as well as all the sounds from Windows/Rings

Is your headset stereo BT?. Your BTHS has to have stereo capability otherwise you can only is it for calls.

I had the ring tones still on the SD card and they worked, I moved them for convenience but I was surprised that the ringers worked without moving them to the device.

Is there a way to assign one of the MP3 ringtones as the email or txt message notification?

For notifications and txt messages, it has to be a .wav file. You can convert the MP3 to a wav and then make sure you put it in your /windows directory. From there you can go to Settings > Notifications and Sounds and you should be good to go.

You may want to double check that; i just tapped and held onto the mp3 and it gave the option to use as ringtone. Then you get a message saying it has been copied to the windows directory...

Wirelessly posted (something hot.: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

a quick way to set an mp3 as an incoming call alert is to tap and hold the desired file and click 'set as ringtone'

Phone Alarm will do this..

You can also place them in My Documents and it will read them as ringtones in the list when changing tones.

does anyone here get ringtones from a specific site or just make them on their own?

I make all my own tones... and I use Ringo for WM devices... it allows me to assign any mp3 as a txt tone and/or just assign a ringtone to a certain person or groups.

I usually just cut any mp3 song down to 30 secs....then switch it from stereo to mono then use activesync to send it to my phone. I do all my edits with the free program: Audacity or Wavepad.......both are pretty much the same and easy to use. you can also fade your ringtone in and out if you choose.
