I have spent the last week on and off trying to see if the 2gb card works in the phone. I have come to the conclusion, that while the phone allows you to insert the card ok, the phone itself can not address any .mp3 files that exist over the 1gb stated capability of the phone.

I loaded 1.7gb of .mp3s the first 950mb were fine. they appeared in album groups, artist groups or what have you. the remaining 800mb of .mp3s ended up in the UnKnown Album area. I could not play these songs from this area. The songs came up as corrupt or invalid file types.

I am using Windows Media Player 11 to sync all the .mp3s to a USB card reader which has my microSd inserted.

I called 1-800-buy-moto and talked to one of their techs. he confirmed this as well. He said however, that this did not mean there wouldn't ever be a phone update to handle 2gb or larger cards. he said to keep watching the customer support area on the moto website.

I've had better results. So far, I've got 1266.5 megs of music on my 2-gig SanDisk transflash card, 672 megs still available (some memory used for pix and file management). All music on card, none on phone (I'm leaving the phone memory open, in case it's being used as a RAM-drive, though I'm not sure about the necessity for this). I'm on Verizon, used WMP 11 to move mp3's. I set WMP to decide what format and bitrate to use for optimal use, and it transcoded all the 128K mp3's to 64K wma's, which it transferred successfully.

The phone gets a real workout, occasionally resetting itself, when building a title list in My Music or checking music memory usage. I'm guessing it's underpowered either in RAM or processor for big tasks. You can almost hear the gears grinding as it plows through the card...

Hope this helps.

are you saying the phone can play WMA's too ?

The Verizon version might be able to but afaik the US Cellular version of the Krzr cannot play WMA files. One of my co-workers tried putting WMA files a 1GB MicroSD card, put in in her USCC Krzr, and the Krzr did not display any of the WMA files.

I can confirm that the VZW version does play WMAs. ACCs too. I can also confirm that this functionality is lacking in the alltel k1m.

Sad to see the VZW version of the phone having a feature I actually miss. Didn't think that would happen! It's a small tradeoff.

quite honestly I am not all that happy with the Krzr.. 1gb mp3s? that is it? No EVDO from USCell. it is no better than my Moto v323.

I should sell my USCell krzr
