Need help, phone locked. What is a PUK? Where do I get it?

I was playing around with security settings, trying to set a password for my sim card but instead i locked my phone out.

Its asking for PUK and then new pin #. What is this PUK #?

you need to call your service provider..if you guess the puk # too many times it will erase everything off your sim card.

Thanks...it works now. After i entered it it asked me for a new pin? Does that pin now lock my sim card? if somebody was to use it with another phone?

Is there a way to lock it so if your phone is turned off when you turn it back on it ask you for a password?

1- Yes the new PIN you will enter is the new pin for the card.
2- Look for option "Phone lock" in Settings>Security menu and turn if on, so it asks you for the phone pass when you turn the phone on. If you have never used it before, it should be by default something like "00000000" and you can change it. Look in the manual it will tell you what the default is

If so the PUK code is listed on your account. Every phone number has a PUK code. Call your local office and verify your account and they can give you the PUK code.

Who ever can help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated,
I have a samsung e730, when i turn it on it says "Enter PUK" , what is a PUK and if anyone knows what the PUK is, could you tell me please.

PUK- Abbreviation for Personal Unblocking Key. The PUK is a secret code made up of 8 to 10 digits. It is used to reactive a SIM card that has been blocked and to define a new PIN.

You'll need to contact your Service Provider for it.

You need to call Fido and ask for the unlock code to your phone.
