I went to a cingular store in order to add the laptop connect plan to add for my 8525 and i was suprised for the answer that i received. The store representative told me that i had to add the pda connect plan plus the laptop connect plan in order to use the phone as a modem. That is $100 on data alone monthly. Does anywhone here has received the same respond.

Wrong. The rep was probably misinformed or just flat out shady. Most likely the former though. All you need is the 59.99 laptop connect and that will get you tethering and pda connect. (I'm a COR rep)

I had a similar question. I would like to use a laptop card to connect my laptop to the internet 24/7, and also have internet access on my 8525. Can I do this with 1 data plan, or do I need the laptop connect for my laptop as well as pda connect for my 8525?

Just the one. All you need is the 59.99 laptop connect plan. That plan will be backwards compatiable with PDA connect.

Yes this 59.99 data connect will cover email and internet on you phone as well tethering to your laptop.

I'm doing that with the phone today and think I'm only paying the $40 data plan.
I guess i'll have to go check my bill.

I was told by the CSR who added my Media Max 200 plan for $19.99 that I can do the same thing.

and they would be extremely wrong an at your expense. you need the laptop connect i.e. data connect plan for 59 to tether with any device period. it will also allow for unlimited data to any device.

so I can get signed up for the $59.99 laptop connect plan and tether my 3g flip phone as my permanent internet connection for my laptop and be within the guidelines of the contract?

Or, when I call are they going to tell me I can't get the $59.99 laptop connect plan on my flip phone....

I want to clarify that I don't want to tether my phone to my laptop. I want unlimited data on my 8525, and a seperate laptop card and sim for my laptop. So, can I get the laptop connect plan and have the plan active on both sims?

you would be paying 39.99 for your PDA connect plan and then 59.99 for your laptop conenct. totaly cost around $90. each will be its own seperate line. it would be 49.99 if you wanted to the PDA max which includes texting, making it a total of $100, so the rep techincally was not lying.

I don't understand this thread. I've hooked my 8525 to my laptop and dialed the internet when I'm out of WiFi range. All i'm paying for is $40 unlimited data. I don't care about media packages because I don't text enough to make it worth while.

Am I missing something?

And you had never been billed pay per use??? when you connect youre laptop with the phone.?
