(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just found a site that makes getting your own music files made into ringtones and best part is it's free. Check it out at http://www.myxertones.com. You upload your song and they send a shortened version to your phone in minutes.

Worked for me, I used mp3 fm an CD that I paid for & even though my phone is a VZW, which I checked off, enV vx-9900, it worked fine. I simple chose 9800 for upload session, & when prompted to save on website, I chose 'other' & when I got msg unable to save msg on phone, I opened it, & once playing, I pressed right soft button while it was playing & saved msg as ringtone... & I am loving the results...

workd for me. i uploaded a song i had on my computer. precess took about 2 min...thanks.

FYI: IT IS COMING FROM AN OUTSIDE SOURCE SO THE TEXT WILL BE .25 IF YOU DONT HAVE A TEXT MSG DEAL, OR YOU ARE OVER YOUR PERMITTED OUTSIDE TEXT MSGS

I tried doing it on my phone (LG VX8100) but it wouldnt work. I was able to receive the file, but I wasnt able to set it as my ringtone. =/

I did it, and it worked fine... great site... it says everything is free... so if it's not.... i smell legal action!! But i believe they support themselves through the selling of "premium content" that costs from $1-3...

http://rtmaker.cellsea.com (from ringtone request thread) looks like having a better interface to edit sound. go try it, it is free too.

mobile17.com
you can send pics music and other stuff
little bit of a wait tho but it can be worth it

becooler,

thanks for mentioning other site, however, they do have a 5mb filesize limit, & myexertones.com doesn't seem to - if memory serves, & it does have, one level below, ability to edit what part of the song will be ringtone you want....

Posted by: becooler

hi, techinical1, thanks for pointing that out. i never noticed max. size limit when i use it. just now i checked the site again, it seems that they increased the max. size to 8mb, for that size, i think it should be enough for most of the mp3.

i happen to know one more site that offer online ringtone maker, OwnYourPhone.com, but it looks like that you need signup first and need some site credits to edit the song. no good.

comparing all these sites, i still prefer rtmaker.cellsea.com site, its interface is better than others, and you don't need to have an account to test it. but of course, if you want to save your ringtone, you have to create one account.

cheers!

Awesome site man, but the ringtones that I sent to my phone are downloaded in my sounds and I can't set those as my ringer. Any ideas? My phone is the LG-VX9800.

Posted by: technical1

midnightclub629,

I got the ringtone as a phone msg, & used the option to save it as a ringtone, if you don't see that, call VZW on their 611 number for tech support & find out if 9800 has that capability - or whichever provider you have.

yeah the 9800 doesnt allow you to set my sounds as ringers...the only way to get your own ringers on the 9800 is either bluetooth or a data cable. Sorta sucks...I learned the hard way too.
