"Memory" on Blackjack Batteries??

My dad just picked up a Blackjack tonight (replacing a Black Razr V3), and one thing that the guy at Cingular (corp store, and he uses a BJ) struck me as odd. He said that the BJ batteries are a type that have a "memory", so to let them drain completely before charging them up again. I haven't seen this anywhere online, so I was curious as to if this was true or not?

Never heard of this and I dont think the BJ battery life is as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Why would a battery have memory?

Damn, with my 8125 - using WiFi for 20 minutes killed the entire battery as it was.

I know certain types of rechargeable batteries do have a memory where if you don't let them drain all the way before trying to recharge, it essentially reduces your battery life to the new amount that you charged it for.

Just looked it up, NiCad batteries have this issue, NiMH and LiON don't (no idea what the BJ uses). Here's my source: http://www.directron.com/batteryterms.html

Maybe he was just misinformed, because aside from that he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I also loved his response when I asked him about tethering: "Do you want the book answer?"

The Blackjack used LiIon batteries, I can't even think of the last cell phone that came out where you had to let the battery drain down before charging.
