Choppy movie playback on Blackjack

I've digitized a DVD into both .avi and .mp4 formats and copied to my Blackjack. Using Windows Media Player (for the .avi) and CorePlayer (for the .mp4), the playback is choppy... the audio plays fine, but the video is very very choppy, showing only a few frames per second, rather than the amount they should.

I've tried rebooting the phone, just to be sure, without any effect.

Any ideas what's going on, and more importantly how to fix it?

Thanks!
Jake

Did you resize the resolution of the video file before putting it on the phone? If you have it at a large resolution than it is probably going to be really choppy. Try reducing the resolution t hat is similar to what it is on the Blackjack (240x320)

I reduced it to 368x?? (which was a default of my ripper - I figured it was close enough). But on the blackjack, wouldn't the resolution be more like 320x240, not 240x320?

Yeah sorry typed that backwards!

try the pocket Divx as the other poster suggested, hopefully that will take care of it.
