Master Reset Sidekick 3!!!

I bought a 1 month old sidekick 3 from a friend of mine because he switched mobile carriers. He still had his information in the device and didnt know how to get it out. I searched and asked and came up with nothing until I ran across an article on how to master reset it back to its default settings and here is how u do it:[/SIZE]

HOW TO DO A MASTER RESET ON A SIDEKICK 3
1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device.
2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad.
3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET.
4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted.
5. Once it has fully rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the device.
6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factoy settings.

Am I challenged?? I am using my boyfriend's sk3 because mine has issues with the charger, but I can't seem to delete his user info from the phone no matter how many hard resets I've done!! It does not bring me to the "new user" "returning user" screen. It welcomes him back in and asks for pswd. The user name is shaded out so I can't replace it

He is no longer on the SK plan so I can't sign in as him...

Anything I can do? Is it something I call T-MO about or he should call it in?

Any ideas? I have been searching for an answer for hours!!

Call T-Mobile, you need to give them the IMEI of the Sidekick. For some reason you only need to do this with some Sidekicks.

Ugh, I just bought a used sk3...and it should be comming in to the mail today. I hope it just resets, because I reeeally don't want to deal with T-Mobile.

i have tryed the master reset 4 this phone i hold the "R" n the phone just keeps restarting n then after about 9 times it goses 2 the rebot screen with the knocked out sidekick on it..... can some one help with the reset

Want to clear out your info (ie: to sell yours)? Here's how:

1) Remove your sim card

2) From the jump screen: Menu -> Settings -> System Info

3) Press Menu+Shift+X Select OK to clear the flash.

4) Press Menu+Shift+R Select OK to clear the login information.

5) Perform a hard reset now. This will reboot the device.

To perform a hard reset:

SK2 - Press the power button and reset button at the same time. Unit will vibrate when reset. You can use a paper clip or similiar to hit the reset button located behind the screen.

SK3 - remove the battery while the device is on.

6) Call your carrier and ask them to detach your device IMEI from the username locked in. Once that is done, hard reset without your SIM card inserted.

You're done

and i havent change my plan to a sidekick plan.
and i decided to sell it and get a tmobile wing.
so i did a reset to get rid of my contact/setting and return it back to default.
but when i REinsert my sim card, it say:
"waiting for activation" "a welcome screen will appear within 48 hours after purchase. if it does not, call customer care to check your account status."
how do i get it back to JUMP menu?

any help is appreciated. THanks

Contact The person who sold you the phone, and have them call tmo and have it removed.

no ... you'll need to get passed the 3 digit security code before you can do a master reset
