Nokia N73 question

I am considering switching to Cingular soon and am interested in an unlocked N73. There has been a huge brouhaha recently in regard to data plans, so I'm confused as to which one this particular phone needs. The N73 does not have a QWERTY board, a touchscreen, 3G (at least, not the US band), or push e-mail. Would a MediaMax plan be sufficient? I do not plan on using large amounts of data, and could not justify paying $40 for data--which is probably moot since this phone is not a PDA and I'm having serious doubts as to whether it could even be classified as a smartphone, even though I'd be willing to pay for the Smartphone Connect plan if it is).

So, which plan, folks?

media max would work fine, the phone isnt a pda or a smartphone so there shouldnt be any reason why you wouldnt be able to use media max. if you arent planning on using that much data, you may even be able to use the media works package that gives you 5mb

Yes, I suppose the 5MB plan may work, but I am willing to pay the $20 just so I have the piece of mind knowing that I don't really have a limit.

Thank you for responding.

Why wouldnt u consider it a smartphone, it runs on s60 3rd edition, has all the capabilities of a smartphone, please explain, the n75 is considered a pda also isnt it???

Well, I guess my point was that it has many features non-smartphones have these days (PIM functions, MP3 player, good camera), so the line is a little blurry.

It's certainly not a PDA, though--it can't be. It doesn't have a keyboard, a touchscreen, or anything that sets PDAs apart from the other phones.

Here's a question: I see you have the N73....what data plan (if any) do you have?

I have unlimited media net plan, which many on here will tell u to use if u dont tether to a laptop, i think im correct with that, if im wrong sorry, also the n73 can add 3rd party apps like any smartphone if not more, let me ask u this, what can the cing 3125, 2125, 8125, do aside from the 8125 with wifi and slide out keyboard, that the n73 cant.http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/N73/...,feat:1,00.html here are some features

it's more of a smartphone than I had thought. Cingular will probably try to market it more for it's multimedia features like they are doing with the blackjack. Worst case scenario, it could use the smartphone connect package which is the same price as the media max, you just wont get any texts with it. Either way you can come out spending 20 bucks and getting all the internet you want. Should be a sweet phone, a good replacement for the 6682.

Cingular??? Cingular has nothing to do with the N73. ANY data plan will work with it.

BTW.......any phone with a Symbian OS is considered a smartphone, be it UIQ, S60, or S80.

OK, thanks. Since the SP Connect and the MediaMax unlimited plans are the same price, I'll just fess up to the people when I buy my plan that I have an N73 Smartphone, and I'd like the SP connect one.

If they try to get me to use PDA Connect (which I doubt, but there's always a possibility), I'll argue that the N73 is not a PDA in any sense of the word. Smartphone, yes; PDA, no. Hopefully I won't have any problems.

Why would they? They have no idea what phone you are using. All they know is you're not using a Cingular phone. Say they did carry this phone, they wouldn't force you to get the PDA Connect plan, because they never have with any of the S60 phones they have carried in the past (3650, 6620, 6682, etc.)
