I'm on my way to Japan soon, and those phones are great, I want to get the Sharp 904 but it's still not unlockable yet, so my question is what is the best phone that is out right now that can be unlocked from Japan?

Be careful about getting a Japanese phone to bring back to the US. Many of their models will work on their networks only. Even if they can be unlocked, they might not work here as the Japanese seem to have their own standards - WCDMA is the one I remember. Most US phones won't work their at all.

You might try searching the forums for Japan and see what you can find.

errr we knw the standards, all the japanese phones so far we talk abt are dual mode phones, gsm/3g phones. yes most US phones will not work there, unless they support 2100mhz for docomo and softbank 3g networks, japan uses PDC, which is exclusive in Japan. Any 3G phone will work in japan (2100mhz) and has roaming agreements in japan.

You may know the standards but not everyone does. Overseas networks are generally different from the US standards. Just because it is a cell phone or a GSM phone or a 3G phone does not by itself mean it will work in the US. I was just pointing out that fact.
