Are you allowed to cancel the data plan right after you buy it from Amazon or Wirefly? These places make it required that you purchase a data plan along with your PDA phone but I may not need the $40 or $50 plan.

Yeah, i want to know this also, thinking about the mda but don't want the data plan.

With Cingular you should be able to, but I cannot vouch for other service providers.

I e-mailed amazon support and they said you could cancel the data plan as soon as you recieve the phone and still be eligible for all rebates and discounts

Why do they make these required then?
What is their email address for the Cell phone customer service?

I was going to ask about this...my friend wants to purchase the 8525 on Amazon but they don't have it bundled with the MM plan. So he could just get the PDA plan and switch to MM when he gets it? I could have swore I read something about having that plan for the first month or something.

By accepting this equipment discount, you agree that for a period of 181 days after your new line of service is activated, you

1. will pay your balance due to Cingular each month;
2. will not disconnect this Cingular line of service;
3. will not transfer this equipment to another Cingular line of service;
4. will not transfer an existing phone number to this new line of service;
5. will not change your Cingular service rate plan to a lower monthly service rate;
6. will not use this new line of service to replace an existing account with Cingular.

If these conditions are not met, you herein agree to a $250 reimbursement to be paid to Amazon.com. This reimbursement of the $250 equipment discount will only be charged if the above conditions are not met.

i dont get how you can change the PDA plan to the MM plan when it says that you cant change your service rate plan to a lower plan...is that voice only?

We are glad to offer family plans for customers who are interested
in purchasing Cell Phones and Service Plans.

You will only qualify for the Amazon.com and the carrier rebate, if
listed, with your primary phone. At this time we are not offering
rebates for any of the secondary phones. However, you will still
receive the discounted price for the additional phones.

I think they are just talking about your base plan, like I purchased the 700 min t-mobile family plan for %59.99 so i couldn't switch to a $39.99 single plan
