Active Sync...

Why cant i view my root in active sync when i click on Explore phone.. (i can do this in the phone but not in explore in active sync)
Also ive tried to install apps froma ctive sync with no luck. (click add programs, and theres nothing in the list...)
Any help would be greatly apreciated.
