Managing applications from PC

I just got my self an Unlocked HTC Excalibur (my first smartphone). My only problem is the inability to manage any of the applications from my PC i.e. (phonebook, Calendar, Outlook). My previous PDA was a Palm which provided software that allowed me to manage all the applications mentioned above from my PC. Is there any software out there which allows you to manage application on your PC for the Excalibur?

It came on the disk with your software and its called MS Activesync. It syncs with MS Outlook. I'm not sure of the version but if its not 4.2, go to the MS Mobile site and you can get 4.2 there. Install it on you computer and then plug in the device via the supplied usb cord and follow the wizard You also have the option syncing via BT if your computer is so equipped either internally or via an add-on. I would suggest that you should read the manual section on ActiveSync before you try to set it up.

Thank you for your reply, I’ve already set up the Activesync which allows me to exchange information between the phone and my pc. My problem is that, I can’t edit or add any information from… say for example… my phonebook from my PC.
My question was is there any software that I could use to edit or add info to my applications from my pc without having to use the phone. Also, once I use the Activesync where can I retrieve the information that is currently stored on my pc? All I can find is a folder which is empty in my programs.

I'm not sure if you have A/S properly setup. Go to A/S tools/options and make sure you have all the appropriate boxes checked that you want to sync. Some also have options (e.g. calendar). Once that is set-up, after you sync, your address books on you device and in Outlook should be the same. If you make a change on your desktop in Outlook, it would sync that change to the device. I take it that you have Outlook already installed on you computer.

I see… so I can retrieve all that information from Outlook? All my boxes are checked for all my applications when I use the A/S, I just was not sure where to retrieve the info from my PC and manage it once I Synced. The thing is that, I don’t use outlook on my device, I have not yet set it up so I never bothered opening Outlook on my PC. I will check it later when I get home tonight.
Thank so much for your Help.
