I can't seem to get my bluetooth to connect to my 8525 via BT. Anyone can give a step by step on getting it to work. Anytime I try to discover my PC or 8525 it tries to install it as a modem.
Any one?

Here are some instructions I posted awhile ago about this. I had to do one additional step not listed below to allow Pass-Through Internet. That way I could surf the net using my PC's internet but have it transferred through Bluetooth. I just can't remember what I did to set this up. Good luck.
I'll add to this because I just bought a Bluetooth Dongle yesterday.
Basically install the software that came with your dongle. Mine asked me what COM Port I wanted to use for my Bluetooth Serial Port. If your installer doesn't ask do this. Go to My Computer/My Bluetooth Places, on the left select "View or Modify configurations", on the Local Services tab you should see Bluetooth Serial Port, click on Properties and select a COM Port. I use COM4.
Then on your phone turn on BlueTooth and go to your Bluetooth settings. In here you should see Com Ports. Creat an "Incoming Port" and set it to COM4 (or whatever you use). At some point you will need to make up a PassKey during the connection. You can use whatever you want, like 6789, just remember it.
If all goes well you are set up. Here are the instructions for actually using Activesync over BT.
In A.S. on PC make sure in File/Connection Settings you have "Allow connections to one of the following" checked and it set to COM4. Then on your phone select Menu/Connect via Bluetooth. It should start the sync automatically, if not select Sync on your phone. (If it doesn't start syncing automatically you may need to make sure you have "Open Activesync when my device connects" checked in File/Connection Settings on your PC A.S.")

Well, here is what I tried doing.
First and foremost, turn on BT on both the device and the PC.
On the PC:
I created a SERIAL com port of 8.
On the 8525:
I created a BT connection between the PC and the 8525.
The 8525 detected the PC fine and established connection. I then went to create a new INCOMING port on the 8525 and made it 8.
I tried to connect BT and nothing, it says that it has to establish a connection between the PC and the PC.
Now what?

I can't remember how long it took me to get this to work but I still don't use it.
I pretty much did the same thing with the ports etc but I added the 8525 to the PC not the other way around. So from my PC using the widcomm software I searched for my phone and when it found it I paired and one of the services it made available was Activesynch.
9 times out of ten when I tried pairing it would not give me the activesynch option. I have no clue why and eventually I just gave up and stopped using it.

Erase any current pc to pda pairing. Then try again, this time, don't fool with anything on the PC, start from your PDA and discover your PC, if you're running WinXP Service Pack 2, everything else should be automatic on your PC, it'll ask you whether you want to allow activesync over bluetooth.
After pairing is complete, open ActiveSync on your PDA, then hit Menu --> Connect via Bluetooth

I don't understand as well, I noticed that I was able to detect the "Serial Port" but it didn't say ACTIVE SYNC. Is it the same? I don't know. However, when I did use the PC to locate the device and added the serial port. Still nothing. I connected the relationship and when I went on the 8525 and click on Connect via BT, it still tells me I have to create a relationship. HUH?

You have to set up your COM port in 3 places.
1. Go to My Computer/My Bluetooth Places, on the left select "View or Modify configurations", on the Local Services tab you should see Bluetooth Serial Port, click on Properties and select COM4.
2. Then on your phone turn on BlueTooth and go to your Bluetooth settings. In here you should see Com Ports. Creat an "Incoming Port" and set it to COM4
3. In A.S. on PC make sure in File/Connection Settings you have "Allow connections to one of the following" checked and it set to COM4.

Ok, after thinking about this, I finally got it to work.
For anyone who needs the instructions, here it is.
COMPUTER SETTINGS:
1. First ensure that you have created a port in your computer (use only between COM 1 to COM 20). I used COM 4.
2. Launch your Active SYNC and make sure that you enabled COM 4 (for instance) for active sync.
DEVICE SETTINGS
3. Before setting up a partnership, go into COM PORTS and make sure that you have COM 4 setup (INCOMING).
NOTE: This is essential before creating a partnership. Theoretically, if you don't set INCOMING to COM 4, ACTIVESYNC won't be detected. If you try to setup a partnership before hand, all it will detect are "OTHER" connections that may be available.
With COM 4 set on active sync, you are telling AS that start opening this up and with the device set to COM 4, when creating a partnership, it will detect all available COMS especially 4 which AS will assign as AS when detected.
Understand?
4. After COM4 is created, now create a partnership. You should now find ActiveSync as a selection.
Now connect.

Its much easier with the MS stack but you loose some of the functionalty the Widcomm stack provides....I didn't like the widcomm stack...it was to unstable for me.
