I bought an unlocked Dolce Gabbana v3i for my daughter for Christmas. I have put in her sim card but there is no service. We are with Cingular in Atlanta. I looked on the internet and keep seeing that I might have to change settings but I don't even know how to get to that point. Is there anyone who can give me a step by step? I'm just not up on these things.

what do u mean no service?, no reception??

Posted by: kkp2

I think what i mean is it can't find the network?? It says it is connecting to service and then it says no network found. The description of the phone when I ordered it said it would work for Cingular.

if they live in a good reception area, maybe she needs the phone to automatically select networks, maybe its on manual?, or she may have no reception at all

We have great reception. Everyone elses phone work. It has something to do with the fact that it is a foreign phone. It is set to automatically find the network. I don't know what else to do.

Check the band: is also under automatic too.

Yes the band is on automatic too. I was supposed to just be able to put in her sim card and make calls. I'm so frustrated.

master reset??

where did you buy the unlocked phone from?? sometimes some vendors on ebay falsely advertise just to get higher ratings, so they may embellish on some of the features on their advertisements.

I bought it from egizmo.com. They are willing to exchange it but I worry that I will continue with the same problem. A master reset did not work. I have tried everything. I have had unlocked gsm phones before and I have had no problems with them.
